Car Rental in Jeju

by efoo

Driving in a rented gas-filled car is one of the most popular way to move around Jeju even when you can't read Korean. Main Roads are well labelled in English as shown on given maps. The roads allow easy stop at the side for sight-seeing.

Hire car

The best way to travel around Jeju-do is by car. I rented mine from Haeun Rentacar. It cost 70,000 won per day, for a top-of-the range 2.0 l automatic Sonata with an in-car navigation system, which not only guides you to every location, but also warns you about approaching speed limits and police cameras. This is very necessary on Jeju-do, where the maximum speed limit is 80kph, but in most places only 60kph or 50kph. The police cameras are often placed at the bottom of a hill, just after the speed limit has inexplicably changed from 80kph to 50kph.The major car rental firms have desks inside the airport; the others operate from minibuses in the airport car park. If you don't have a Korean license, you need an international one. Driving outside of Jeju city is a real pleasure, as there is very little traffic on the country roads.Other car rental companies in Jeju include: Grand Rent Car...

From Seoul to Jeju

by bpacker

The best way to get to Jeju is by plane. And once you're in Korea, taking a plane is pretty much like taking the subway. It's cheap, fast and convenient. There's no need to buy a ticket beforehand. Just turn up at the domestic airport in Seoul (GIMPO AIRPORT is accesible via subway line 5) and purchase a ticket from Korean Air or Asiana Airlines. Tickets from KoreanAir is cheaper. Sometimes, you'll even get a discount if you book your tickets online. Check the website I included below..: Ignore the message " for foreigners residing in korea" . I managed to book my tickets online and I'm not an expat wife living there..

Getting to Jeju without connecting in South Korea

by Archie02

All flights between Mainland South Korea and Jeju (CJU) are strictly domestic flights, so some people need a visa to transit at Seoul or Busan, even though they might not need the visa for Jeju.Transferring in Busan (PUS) could be the better option, as PUS's two terminals (International and Domestic) are a mere 200 meters away from each other.Transferring in Seoul most likely would mean to connect between Inch(e)on ICN and Gimpo (GMP), as all flights from Seoul to Jeju depart from GMP. Transfer would be a 35 minute train ride (commuter train departs every 12 minutes) at roughly 3 USD oneway. All in all, for a transfer between ICN and GMP not less than 3, better 3.5 hours should be allowed.Flight options from the Philippines:TransAsia flies 2pw from TPE; not sure if transiting requires a visa there. China Eastern (MU) flies daily from Shanghai-Pudong (PVG). If you book MU through PVG on...

Rent a car

by ancient_traveler

The most common transportation mode when sightseeing in Jeju is by rent-a-car or rent-a-taxi. But the cost can be rather expensive. The suggested Jeju one-night, two-days course presents a convenient and affordable way to explore Jeju on a trolley bus over the course of two days.Dae Sin Rent-a-car: Nohyeong-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 82-64-744-8123 http://chejudrive.comKorea Rent-a-car: Nohyeong-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 82-64-748-5005 http://www.hankookrent.co.krJeju Dream Rent-a-car: Yeon-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 82-64-744-3939 http://www.dreamrent.co.kr/default.aspHansung Rent-a-car: Yeon-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 82-64-747-2100 http://www.hansungrent.co.krArirang Rent-a-car: Nohyeong-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 82-64-749-2139 http://www.arirangrent.co.krBudget Rent a Car: Nohyeong-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, 82-64-748-2727 http://www.budget.co.krDong-a Rent-a-car: Yongdam 2-dong, Jeju-si, Jeju-do,...

by mitchimitch

The closest port in mainland Korea to Jeju-do is in Wando. One can take the Hanil Express ferry from Wando to Jeju for only around 13,000 won! There are 2 trips every day at 1430 and 1530 and it takes only 3 hours! More information here:http://www.lifeinkorea.com/Travel2/cheju/116http://www.hanilexpress.co.kr/ (korean)http://www.chejuinfo.net/trans/trans_e.htmlI am also planning to take the ferry on my next Jeju visit and I will update this tip accordingly!
