Extra parking charges

by efoo

When driving in Jeju, read the cark park charges carefully especially at the airport and the city. The carpark attendant charged us an extra 1000 won at the airport and 500 won at the cark park near the hotel. At the airport, we did not even realize till the nice car rental assistant approach the attendant when he saw we were being charged extra. Most locals just park at the side of the road.

half tanned, half untanned

by im_jiyoung

this sounds a bit silly again though, when you are gonna be under the sun for long, don't forget to take off your sunglasses, or cap from time to time to make things even. I wore my sunglasses at all times, not realizing what was gonna happen, and now I am half tanned on my face. Looks quite funny.. hmm. watch out!

In u-do, well. it can be everywhere though, when you go up the hill, becareful of those things that stick out. I took the pic in U-do, the lighthouse-park, ( which has a super-great view) And please, ladies, Don't wear high hills there, It can be dangerous!=)

You never know..

by im_jiyoung

This maybe kinda silly advice though, ,,,The name of the waterfall in the pic is Chun-Je-Yun, and that locates in Jungmun, (Don't be confused with the bigger one named Chun- Jee-Yun) This looks pretty cute compared to the other one similar name, after lond hot day, you might feel like to swim in the pond, bt.. please Do not!You never know how deep it is, (actually it's pretty deep), and besides, it was written only in Korean that the water spiral quite a lot, therefore it may be very dangerous if you swim in it. besides the water's very cold, very.

Of Pirates, Hockey Players and Left hand drives

by bpacker

Driving in Jeju-si tests your sanity. I concluded that Korean Drivers drive like ice- hockey players. Why? Well, they have no qualms sliding in front of you to jostle for an unseen puck of a space. Needless to say, this has reduced me to curse like a pirate and drive like a hockey player . The combination was lethal. Well, the good news is, once I was out of Jeju-si, my sanity will returned, I saw wide open roads and miles of scenary. Take note though, that it's left -hand driving over here, you'll take some time to adjust if you're from a Commonwealth country.

Speed Traps!

by bpacker

There's lots of hidden speed traps all over the main roads of cheju so keep a steady turtle pace at 60km/h. If you do decide to up your speed, give a big grin as an automatic picture will be taken of you and the car..

Go there early in the morning!

by Carino

If you plan to walk up to Hallasan Mountain go there very early. First of all, the air is much better in the morning. Real fresh and therefore a great climate to hike. Secondly, there are always a bunch of school kids up the mountain in the afternoon. And it's kind of annoying to hike in a traffic jam.

Sunscreen and Sufficient Time for Hallasan Climb

by bthon

When we left the base of Mount Hallasan, it was raining and very early. I think we expected the climb to be strenuous at points, but we did not expect to encounter sunburn after we climbed above the clouds. We also did not expect to be gone for so long and did not bring sufficient food. Hopefully, you can avoid all of these things with better planning!

Language

by Carino

Jeju-do is not made for backpackers. People barely speak english and the signs and other stuff are just written in Hangul. Which means without a korean speaking travelmate, your pretty ***ed. Maybe since the World Cup that changed a bit. My next trip to Jeju-do is going to be in October 2004 and I'm really curious if I can see a difference.
