Vivaldi Lobby Restaurant: 24 hour food

by machomikemd Updated Jul 7, 2008

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Cafeteria, the restaurant at the main lobby of Daenyung Vivaldi resort is also open 24 hours and serves mostly tourist like us (since almost all south koreans cook meals in their rooms). the menu is international and since we are on a packaged tour, our breakfast here is included. but in case youre interested, a basic continental or american breakfast here is about 10,000 won ($ 9.50) and a korean breakfast is about 12,000 won ($ 11.25).

Favorite Dish: actually none since were on a tour package, the american breakfast is a given and having bacon n eggs n jam n butter is about the same everywhere!

    nice views too hungry pose!

    Go Jum Gang: Korean Fastfood

by machomikemd Updated Jul 7, 2008

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Vivaldi Park offers the Food Court in the Main Center (where are rooms are) and at the Resort and various snack corners located outdoors. One of the moderately priced and tasty korean fast food kiosk at the food court is go jum gang. We ate here and as in other restaurants and fast food around south korea, assorted banchan (kimchi) is free and they only charge for your meat orders, sea food and other vegetable dishes. the fast food is open from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm everyday.

If you want just to cook at your room then just buy some frozen foodstuffs and drinks the the 24 hour supermarket nearby and cook it or go to the other more expensive and traditional restaurants near the food court.

Favorite Dish: we ordered a korean favorite, a bacon like pork belly cut into thin strips and is called samgyeopsal (they are sweet and spicy plus the souce is also spicy) and red rice and all the free kimchi to taste (really i'm not a fan of kimchi but since youre here then do what the romans do!). a basic meal like samgyeopsal costs 10,000 won ($ 9.50) which is quite expensive (a chinese dish in a fastfood in the stated is about $ 7) but who said that the cost of living in korea is cheap?.

they also have the gangwon province specialty, the dak galbi (sweet n spicy roasted chicken) at 8,000 won and other korean stuffs. a meal costs about 7,000-20,000 won (depending on what you order).

in traditional korean restaurants, a meal costs between 12,000 to 60,000 won! so eating here is really cheap by korean standards!
