Well, since we're on the topic of food, let me just say that the food at Yong Pyong is overpriced and it sucked big time. It's only good for carbo-loading in between skiing so head for Hwengye(the little ski village below Yong Pyong) for dinner or lunch.
There's lots of little restaurants in Hwengye, so look out for this nondescript eating place nearest to the bus terminal. It serves piping hot bbq meats and seafood.
Do take note that despite its plain facade, this shop is quite well-known.It was featured on national television not too long ago for it's grilled squid and home made tomato-based sauce. I have to agree with the local TV, it was bloody good, especially on a cold winter's day.

Gateway to the untouched north

Geongneung is a modest town on the North East coast. The North Korean boarder is not far from here, so the beaches may or may not be open to the public (for security pursposes & possible landmines)....
