There is some decent skiing at Bearstown, in Pocheon. It is about 2-3 hours by bus from Seoul. You can rent equipment there quite cheaply, and lift tickets are not too expensive. The slopes can be pretty crowded on weekends, with a lot of novice skiers and snowboards, so you have to keep you head on a swivel. There are several ski lodges around the mountain, all offer nice accomodations. If you are picky, make sure you get a "western room" or else you will be sleeping korean style - on heated floors!
