Local desserts at cultural village
There are some stalls selling interesting local desserts near the traditional costume area of the cultural village at Suwon. These desserts are clean, tasty and cheap, and is a good experience to try.

Datzzang Donkas Suwon: Best Donkas in Town
Super crispy and tasty donkas (pork, chicken, or fish) I have ever had. The inside looks really cool, too. Seemed to have fresh and thick cuts of meat, good sides, and an impressive painting on the wall next to our seats. Will be back for more with friends for sure.
Favorite Dish: I had the combination with pork tenderloin and fish. It also came with noodles, a rice ball and a salad. Loved the crispy texture, juicy meat, and sides were great.

Kalbi on the floor
There are numerous restaurants and cafes all over the city, so it's impossible to remember them. They are everywhere.
Nôtional Korean restaurants serve on low tables where you have to sit on the floor. Not really a conenient way for Europeans, especially for tall ones :). There are some "localized" restaurants with the holes under the tables. The tables look like low, but there's a lot of space for your legs.
A lot of various side dishes and appetizers are normally free, you only pay for the main course, and the waiter adds the side dishes as soon as they end. It was my first time in Korea when I tried a jellyfish, and I absolutely liked it! So don't be afraid of local food, but it's better to have someone who can adivce you on your choice and explain what you choose. And kalbi is definitely a must.
Favorite Dish: Kalbi is a local meat specialty for Suwon. And that's something really worth tasting. It's a kind of BBQed meat prepared right in the center of your table.

any one you fancy in the market: The fish market
Each of the restaurants we passed by inside that market below the tracks looked like they can whip up a great meal. You get to choose from the live seafood they have for sale what you like and how you'd want them prepared.
Favorite Dish: Especializing on the freshest seafood of all kinds. You tell them how'd you like your food prepared :) If fish, I'd like to eat the meat raw with the head and the rest of it in a pot of steaming hot soup.....yummy!!
just about any galbi Restaurant: Yummy....galbi!
Suwon is well-known for its seasoned beef ribs -- galbi. I had mine in a corner restaurant near the in front of the information booth close to the Paldalmun Gate (check out the photo).
Favorite Dish: Galbi
