Helpfulness
The diving near Ulchin is relatively nice.
Water was cool, between 13 to 23 degrees C depending on depth.
We did 4 dives over the weekend. Two at "King's Stone" and two seperate wreck dives on scuttled man-made wrecks. One was a Navy sleeping vessel, and the other was two identical ships joined together before sinking.
The surface currents made the two wreck dives challenging to ascend/descend. They were deep-ish (25-30m), and once at depth the surface current wasn't a factor. Watch for BIG jellyfish when at depth.

Helpfulness
Favorite thing: Uljin is a quiet town, not frequented by many tourists, particularly non-Korean.
If you find yourself exploring this coast town, there is no tourist information booth at the bus station as you would find in nearly all other cities in Korea.
However, if you walk or take a taxi into the City Offices, there are area maps and limited tourist information available during normal business hours.
The information is in Korean, but has many photos and maps. It is enough to navigate the area.
Fondest memory: City Offices are about 1.5km north of the bus station. From the station, walk north, cross the river, then follow the signs. After the river, it will be off to your left in another 400m.

We never truly understood why the tourist board calls Uljin "The Land of Life". But we do know that it is famous for the crab fishing off the coasts and the nearby SBS television coastal set.
