There's a hof every five steps in seoul. Keeping true to its namesake, beer is the preliminary item on the menu, with a variety to snackems to follow. Unlike its German counterparts, yellow pis$ beers tend to be the only beers available. Nonetheless, grab ten of your closest friends, coworkers, or complete strangers and have a great night. There's this one hof I would higly recommend. Its near Yang Jae Station, right behind the TGIF, in the alley adjacent to it. Its one of those few hofs with beers other than Hite, Cass, Cafri, Bud. About a hundred meters away is BEER BOSS, Just follow the main street down the hill. Must try the 3000cc beer. Dry ice helps keep the beer cool. If your party contains more than a legion of friends, try BEER HUNTER right next to Kang Nam Station. Dress code????? As long as you have underwear on.

Nevermind the name of the place, this bar is a nice place to kill a night. The mixed drinks are good, they have a decent selection of beers, and the upstairs barteneder is cute. What else do you need? Uncle Toms' Cabin exterior seems way too out of place in Apkujeong. In the midst of swanky hair salons, upscale fusion resturants, 'too cool we call you coolio' joints, theres this cabin, literally a cabin, wood shingles and all, with drunken Koreans, Expats, and tourist all having a great night out.ask for a toyko tea. i spent way too much time and their trying to teach the nice girl upstairs how to make one just so i could enjoy it.... especially since i moved back to sf, ca. Korea is a dressy place, but I feel just at home here. Went in slippers, shorts and a tank top once. Yeah people were staring at me like, well like I was a foreigner, but I guess that was the point in the first...
Don't wanna party with soldiers and burnt out English teachers in seedy old Itaewon? Head to the Honggik University area. Hodge Podge is full of Korean university students before midnight and foreigners after. Cover charge includes one drink. Lots of other bars in the neighborhood as well.
This great bar in the basement of the Ariana Hotel in Daegu has the best beer I've ever had in Korea - and also the best live music. Check it out if you've got the chance - the band plays every night of the week. It's decorated in dark woods accented by the showcase brewing equipment. A bit expensive, but worth it.
Though I'm not a fan of the Sheraton walker Hill Casino, the hotel itself is fab u lez. On the 16th floor, there is a nice cocktail lounge, The Sky Lounge. Nice calm place to cap off the night. I would avoid sneaker and jeans. i go like that all the time, but some people might not like being stared at. In korea, dress code is a must everywhere.
This is at least one place where it all happens in Seoul. The general area is called Jongno1-ga and as you wander it becomes Jongno2/3-ga etc. Theres a large range of restaurants/ bars and nightclubs here with Streetvenders and people hanging trying to lure the unsuspectin into their places. The Neon is like Tokyo and the wierdos make it interesting and the hotdogs with chips already in the batter is such a good idea!!!There are a lot of American Western themed restaurants but also trendy looking bars, Karaoke and probably anything else you were looking for. This area is just off the main road where there are market stalls lining both sides- These are open till about midnight and the atmosphere is very cool.

When at a loss, you might well think of going to APKUJONGNO and TOSANDAERO. In a matter of minutes, you can go from enjoying a creative Seoul cuisine at one of its many renowned restaurants to chatting all evening with a full glass of fine wine at one of western style cafes that flourish in the area. Here the city's most interesting mix of goodies can be found: the nicest clubs such as BLUE MOON offers live music ranging from reggae, jazz to disco. Apkujongno and Tosandaero will be your ideal choice for a memorable evening and a perfect reminder of your trip to Seoul.

Itaewon is definitely the strangest place in Korea. Filled with American, Canadian, Kiwi and Aussie ex-pats, American soldiers, and tourists this place can be beyond rowdy in the wee hours of the morning. Streets are lined with yogwans (Korean-type of guesthouse), small shops, bars and nightclubs of all kinds, prostitutes, and western and Korean eateries.Among ex-pats Itaewon is well known for being one of the few places to find clothing in 'western sizes', and it also has a fair number of 'western shops', such as a Nike store and a Body Shop.Tip for solo women: Be careful in Itaewon! It is the ONLY place in Korea where I don't feel completely safe. Buy your own drinks and don't let anyone walk you home. Jeans and t-shirt. Canadian flag pin optional.
A 'hof' (often pronounced 'hoff'feh') is a small bar. Patrons sit on small sofas at a secluded table and listen to taped music. Mixed drinks are a little expensive in Korea, but you can get large pitchers of beer cheaply. Live music is rare (signs advertising 'live beer' usually mean that the bar serves draft beer). It's customary to also order 'an-jew', snacks like dubu-kimchi (kimchi and tofu), dong-kass (pork cutlet), or tong-sue-yuke (sweet and sour pork).
