Sunset View from the Window of my Apartment... by kenmerk What can I say about Chungju, besides the fact that it was my home for about 4 years... Not so much special here, chief entertainment in town is bowling and singing/drinking, and I don't bowl, so you can probably guess how I spent the majority of my free time here.... Leave a Comment

by ghweeh Something that I have not expected to see since it was winter...when you are suppose to see tress covered with snow. But along the street...while we were walking...we chance upon this tree still bloom with yellow/brown leaves...and maybe waiting to fall off.... I thought that was a beautiful sight. So, if you can...why not take a stroll along the street...you never know what surprises awaited on the other side! Leave a Comment

The buddhist statue by MEdelmann Each temple has its Buddha statue where the people come and pray. Seonunsa is no ecept! Believe it or not, but the most Koreans are christians! They are catholic or protestants. I have never seen so many churches than in Seoul! And there are also other religions in Korea, because they "imported" a lot of special clerks which they need in ther special industries. So you can also find Hindus, muslimes and other religions there. Leave a Comment

Seonunsa by MEdelmann Korea has a lot of wonderful temples. Some of them store great treasures - like Haeinsa temple near Daegu, which stores the biggest collection of buddhist skripts - but most of them are treasures itself. Unfortuneatly I saw only one of them, Seonunsa temple. But it was very nice! Btw, "Sa" means "temple" in korean! Pilgrims come here and pray for themselves and their relatives. Seonunsa temple is a very good example how Koreans temples built. Leave a Comment

Farm house by MEdelmann This is a traditional farm house in Korea. It is a very simple building and the whole family lives in the house. An essential part of the house is "Changdeokdae", a special place (watch my local customs tips to find the explaination). Click on the pictures to the all the interesting details of the house and the other things. Leave a Comment

Seonunsa by MEdelmann Make shure that you have a good guide with you when you want to explore the temples! Most of them are located very hidden somewhere in the mountains so that you need a local which brings you there .... But if you want to go alone I recommend you to learn some korean. English is less spoken outside of Seoul and if you cant read the letters you will gone lost very easy! This is another picture of Seonunsa temple. Leave a Comment

Really! it was this big! by Ladebackchic Although the Koreans are known for their love of fishing, their conservativeness is truly prevelant is this place. Take the public bus down to Kyung-ju, in the southeast corner of Korea, stop in at the tourist booth and ask for the local fishing spots. What you'll find are easy-chairs, canopy's and stocked (though large) fish ponds to catch as many fish as you can, but can't keep.) The owners will direct you on how to use their reel-less rods and to construct the meal balls used for bait. After you've finished hooking all but the fish, he'll treat you to a coffee and take your photos to display on his webpage. Leave a Comment

The Pukhan (North Han) River between Chuch'on and Kapyeong is a beautiful ride along a winding stream curving its way between the adjacent mountains. During the Korean War, battles were intense along this natural boundary. Waterfalls and tourist villages are ideal spots nearer the Chuch'on terminus. As the water deepens central channel, the earth level exposed is of different colors so the river appears striped (foto 5). Leave a Comment

Honestly, if you get to Korea, you should spend at least one day walking aimlessly in the rural farm areas. Get away from the busy chaos of the cities, and view the side of Korea that not everyone knows of. That would be the quiet, secluded, small little rice field farmers in the mountains or the small fishing villages along the rocky coasts.

One particular place we go to is called U-Para. It is near Songnae Station of Seoul Line 1 and on the 8th floor of the building called "toona". U-Para has virtually everything you need to get entertained... except for porn. Some of the highlites are: bowling lanes, pool tables, shooting range, arcade, and my personal favourite, gold fish fishing. It also has massage chairs, shower room, and tanning beds. The best part of this is they're open 24/7 (meaning: 11am to 6am). For 8,000 Won ($10CAN), you could stay there for as long as you want and do anything you want at no extra cost.
