Antique Alley

by D_Shannon

Insadong has the best shopping in Seoul. This quaint street has many small alleys worth investigating, and there are tons of great shops selling art supplies, paintings, antiques, and souvenirs.Don't miss out on the great restaurants and tea shops in the back alleys. Many have beautiful gardens and peaceful interiors. One old tea shop is filled with birds and interesting artefacts and many restaurants serve up traditional dancing and drumming with dinner. A few even offer traditional Buddhist vegetarian set meals, for a bit of a price. More than in most places in Korea, but the quality and atmosphere is worth the extra.

MyongDong

by wanderaround

There are various shop around here. But it is not attractive to a Hong Kong citizen. At another side, it is Namdaemun, most of the goods are import from China. There also a zone call Dongdaemun, where you can buy many famous product.

Korean Ginseng

by beachboy

Korean ginseng has a very high reputation as an energy booster. It's also a very expensive herbal medicine. It takes a full 6 years to grow a 'ginseng' and another 20 years before the ginseng farm is ready for ginseng plantation again. This is because ginseng will absorb all the essence from the ground. And therefore, the price of ginseng is relatively very high. High price!

Dongdaemun Market: shop til the sun go up.....

by jaam

Korea's largest wholesale and retail shopping district has 26 shopping malls, 30,000 specialty shops, and 50,000 manufacturers. Within the ten blocks of the market area, you can find silks, clothes, shoes, sporting goods, plumbing and electrical supplies, electronics, office supplies, toys and just about everything else imaginable.Traditionally, wholesalers operated from 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and retailers were open from 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Buyers came from all over Korea to take advantage of the cheap wholesale prices during the wee hours of the morning, creating an unusual nightlife in the area. Now, the area stays open from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., allowing shoopers to do their thing almost any time the mood strikes them. Just about anything your heart desires.... You'd be limited by your budget. Although a few dollars can really get you some really neat stuff.....

Dong Dae Moon, Nam Dae Moon: Extreme shopping

by genome408

There are several buildings in the shopping mecca. Let me paint a picutre for you. Eight to ten story buildings, fifty or so litte stands on each floor, five people to every square foot, open til 5am. All this adds up to extreme shopping. Bargaining is a must. If you cannot speak Korean, I would find a native to go with you, but if you are alone, it is not that bad. You can find all sorts of items all over the place. Hint, if you find an item you like, still shop around. You can get a range of different prices frm different vendors.

dongdaemun/namdaemun market: markets

by jessmorg

These markets have anything you would ever need, from clothes, to food, to shoes, to housewares.... anything.they are huge indoor/outdoor markets and they are full of people. You should bargain if there is no price stated. Anything you need. you can find in the market... or even you can find it on the street at many different vendors. bargain.... always bargain, you can get a lower price, unless it is stated.
