COEX is the typical mall where you will find everything. There are different specialty stores offering clothes for both female and males, children and adults. There's a huge bookstore, Bundi and Lund, where you can find various books both in English and Korean. A department store, Hyundai, is also located right beside the mall. And then, there is the Evans Music Store, which provides a large selection of music CD's and movie DVD's. If you get hungry, there are two different food courts and a number of individual restaurants scattered across the mall. Finally, there are cinemas if you want to watch a movie or an underground aquarium which your kids will enjoy because of the different species of fish and seawater animals you get to see.
The mall is a bit disconcerting because it's in one floor and is divided into four areas. But there are information counters in each area so feel free to ask directions. Of course, if you don't speak Korean, look for a for a volunteer interpreter who may just be around.

I first visited the Coex back in 2000, and it became one of my favorite places to hang out during the weekend.
Being a mall, its offerings/selection is huge. Its price range is pricier, but you can find prices at a bargain sometimes.
Its food selection is unrivaled. Besides the large central food court that people have referred to, there is a smaller food court by the entrance to the transportation hub. The smaller one is limited to Korean food though. Finally, there are the restaurant chains between the mall entrance and the subway entrance, such as KFC, Bennigan's, and Jackie's Kitchen.
The Coex is colocated with the International Trade Center that hosts many of korea's top-billed conventions and exhibitions. Mind you, these aren't boring. You can play video games, check out the latest Man-Hwa/Manga/Anime, or spy out the latest in electronics. My favorite though was the food and drinks exhibition, where one can taste Korean drinks, like soju and malkori ;)
Also, it has a museum devoted to kimchi. Plus, there's a small aquarium.
What to buy: Bandi and Lundi is a bookstore that has unrivaled Korean and Western selections.
Giordano has a branch inside. It is not too far from the entrance.
There are two stores that sell toys/models and Japan-related items, but I forgot their names.
The store that sell the Japan-related item has a good selection, but it has a high mark-up as well.
Starbucks is here as well, but they can't accept the cash cards.
What to pay: The answer depends on how much of a shopaholic a person is ;)

This is am amazing place.. Hidden underground..
I was walking idlessly in the street, just decided to leave this place and were searching for the neares metro station.. Saw the signs for Samseong station and stepped down the stairs... Suddenly I saw this place.. Entrance of Coex mall..
The first sights were interesting so I decided to have a look.. But I could never imagine such a big underground shopping mall with so many nice cafes, restaurants and shops.. It was booming and full of the folks .. Probably I was the only tourist there but I enjoyed a lot..

The COEX Mall has anything and everything you can imagine. It contains over 85,000 square meters of shops and restaurants. It's probably most famous for its 16-screen cinema complex and aquarium. The cinema is rumored to be the largest in Asia. I have visited both the movie theater and aquarium. I was impressed with both.
What to buy: Name brand clothing.
Large selection of CDs.

The COEX mall is a little slice of America totally improved upon in Korea. It is everything a mall should be, complete with food court and annoying teenagers trying to rebel against society because their parents don't dig the vibe they are giving off outside the record store. The difference is it is a very friendly atmosphere, and there is actually customer service.
I loved the mall when I was there because it just had about everything I needed, from movie theaters to game and CD stores, and a food court with all kinds of ethnic foods. It was also in one of my favorite Korean movies "Tube".
What to buy: The Cinema's are probably the nicest ones I went to in Korea, and for food court food, it is above average.

The Coex mall has all your shoping needs, it's a very large under ground mall i think it is the biggest in asia ( so i was told ). It has lots of good shops a big food court. Also it has a movie theater and aquarium. If you ever watch korean tv, then there is a show really popular with the kids out here were to people play the computer game star craft agaist each other. Thats not really my thing but if you wanted to know then they film it at the Coex mall. Well hey you never know maybe you will make it on tv.

This is one of the newer department stores in Seoul. It's flashy and has a huge movie theatre (get tickets in advance!) and a small "kimchi museum". Definitely not a must-see, unless you're in the area anyway (which isn't likely since it's a bit out of the way).
What to pay: As with all department stores in Korea, clothing tends to be much more expensive than average, but the service is usually exceptionally good.
