Just a little bit of a walk from COEX is this temple. It seems incredibly out of place for the area it is in, but is typical Korea of in many respects.
It is a temple for the Zen sect of Buddhism and was founded in 794. Like Choygesa, there is not a lot to do at the temple other than walk around and look at things. But what cool things there are to look at. You can imediately feel zen-ish the moment you enter the grounds.

This traditional Korean style Buddhist temple is right smack in the middle of the city situated at the base of the Sudo Mountain in Samseong-dong. This temple was founded in 794 and is still in use today by many of the local Buddhists. Bongeun-Sa is home to the tallest pure stone statue of Buddha in Korea standing at 23m tall which was erected in 1996. This is a wonderfully beautiful place to spend a bit of time wandering around the grounds and escaping the hustle and bustle of the big city. Visitors are more than welcome to explore and look into the various buildings but are asked to be respectful of the others who have come to pray. Be sure to stop in at the visitors office which will be to your left as you enter the grounds and pick up a free guide or ask for a free tour. On your way out sample some of the food or have a cup of ginseng tea from the vendors who have set up shop outside. Be sure to visit the gift shop which offers books about Buddhism as well as other Buddhist items.
