  • The famous Itaewon area is over-rated in my opinion. When I went there during a Saturday night, there was no big crowd and there is only one main street selling un-interesting stuff (and they were expensive). It was really a disappointment for me.

    The taxi fare from Incheon Airport to Seoul is very expensive (about 50,000 won) so be very careful when taking a taxi. You can consider taking the airport coach which costs about 6000 won.

    English Tourist Information is rare. So, starting at the International Airport get your info at once. The only other places with info are along the highways, some kiosks in Seoul and in the International Hotels.

    Good preparation, although it takes some time to find the better Korean sites in English.

  • If you ever find yourself in an area full of americans, such as the Itaewon Clubbing District, or around the Yongsan U.S. Army Garrison, stay away from the parked cabs looking for customers! They target foreigners, and double their prices! Just stand on the street and hold your hand down and wait for another one.

    I went to Itewon's nightclub with my fellow. In the beginning a shop man said we must to pay in advance fee (20000W). I wanted to go back from there, but my fellow didn't. So we paid fot it. When we went up the stairs, there wasn't any customer. The shop man brought us more than 5 bottles of beers, full of fruits on the big plate after another despite we didn't order anything. I became angry so we decided to leave there without eating entirely. We said him to go back, but another shop man said 'pay for all of it!!' I became mad, next I abused them, but finally we had to pay 20 percent of whole price.
    Please watch out for Itewon's nightclub!!!

  • ITAEWON - As there is a major US Army base in the area, the shops here grew up to serve foreign clientele. The prices can be quite expensive but most of the shop owners can speak and understand English and Japanese. Get your souvenirs at Namdaemun Market instead!

    Check out all the street markets, lots of good deals at a decent price. Lots of souvenirs, clothes, electronics, etc...
