When I look out of my window I can see clusters of brown, glazed clay pots on nearly every roof top. These are my neighbours' kimchi pots. Most families here make their own kimchi and store it in sealed pots on the roof or in the yard. This makes financial sense, as kimchi is very epensive to buy in the supermarkets, and no Korean family can live without kimchi.

Daejeon is a vibrant, youthful city. It has a massive student population, big stores are open 24/7 and many clubs and bars are open all night.
