Shinae, the old downtown area, is a great place to wander around at night. There are hundreds of bars, clubs, restaurants and food stalls and a great atmosphere, especially at the weekend.

Most people don't arrive here until after 9pm. Some come downtown after midnight. There are clubs that are open all night and people are still dancing and drinking at 7am in the morning.

Kyerongsan National Park

4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

iwys 2023 reviews

Kyerongsan means Rooster Dragon Mountain. The park is mountainous and forested. There are several, well-marked hiking trails, and it is possible to climb Mount Kyerongsan.

There are numerous restaurants and gift shops near the main entrance to the park, all selling the local brew: dongdongju.

This is a famous location for viewing cherry blossom in April.

Admission is W3,200.

Donghaksa is one of Korea's most famous Buddhist temples. Work started on it in 724 AD and King Taejo prayed here for national prosperity.

Strange bronze statue

Is it just me, or does this statue look vaguely obscene? Daejeon is a very modern city and the statues dotted around the city tend to reflect this.
