Jimjibong - Korean Bathhouse

by Arial_27

There are Korean bathhouses almost everywhere you will go, and they're not hard to find. Look for the symbol of a half circle with flames coming out of it like in this photo. I believe that all bathhouses are open to men and women, but they have seperate sections for both of them since everything is done in the nude. Usually you are given a key to open a small drawer to put your shoes in when you enter, and you're given a towel. You then enter a seperate locker room area where you take all your clothes off and then you can go into the bathhouse area. There will be hot tub style baths, cold baths (almost like a swimming pool) and other interesting flavour baths like oriental herb, champagne or berry. It's really quite relaxing, and you can also get a scrub - where you fly down (naked of course) and someone of the same sex will scrub all the dead skin off your body. You feel very soft and...

Beomeosa Temple

by Arial_27

Busan is full of temples, and this is the first one I ever went to. As of now, I don't have much to compare it to, but I can say that it was a beautiful place and a really great experience to visit here. Its located in a rural area, just outside Busan but is easily accessible, even from the subway line. The temple itself is beautifully painted and decorated and the surrounding scenery of mountains makes it even more pretty. There is a small gift shop selling traditional Korean souvenirs, and they were giving out free cups of tea as well.

tongyeong beautiiful harbour in south korea

by hanspeter_W.

Tongyeong is a city in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. In 2007, it had an area of 238.69 km2 and a population of 136,047 people. It is divided into 1 eup (town), 6 myeon (township) and 11 dong (neighborhood). Chungmu city and Tongyeong county were reunited in 1995, creating Tongyeong City as we know it today. It consists of Goseong Peninsula, Hansan Island, Mireuk Island and other islets.[1] It was formerly known as Chungmu, after the posthumous name of Admiral Yi Sun-sin. The name Tongyeong means "command post" and is itself associated with Admiral Yi, as it refers to his principal base that was located on nearby Hansan Island.

VISIT THE SIGHTS OF SEOUL

by hanspeter_W.

Seoul (Korean pronunciation: [sʌ.ul] ( listen)), officially the Seoul Special City, is the capital and largest city of South Korea. With a population of over 10 million, it is one of the world's largest cities.[1] The Seoul National Capital Area, which includes the major port city of Incheon and most of Gyeonggi-do, has 24.5 million inhabitants,[2] and is the world's second largest metropolitan area.[3] Almost half of South Korea's population live in the Seoul National Capital Area, and nearly a quarter in Seoul itself, making it the country's foremost economic, political, and cultural center.Located on the Han River in the center of the Korean Peninsula, Seoul has been an important settlement for over 2,000 years, with its history dating back to 18 BC, when Baekje, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, established its capital in what is now south-east Seoul. The city then became the...

insadong old town of seoul

by hanspeter_W.

The Insa-dong art and antique district has dozens of art galleries and shops selling art supplies, antiques, and handicrafts along one main street (Insadong-gil) and many side alleys. It also contains many traditional tea and coffee shops. The Korean Antique Association is located here and can be reached at (02) 732-2240. On weekends, the main street is blocked to vehicular traffic, allowing the throngs of people to mingle without fear of being run down by Seoul drivers taking a shortcut.

The only waterfall in Asia that falls into the sea

by moomin25

If that little fact doesn't impress you, the waterfall itself will!!!The waterfall in question is Jeongbang Falls, which falls from a height of some 30 metres right onto the rocky beach below (and of course, directly into the sea when it's high tide!).There are three main waterfalls on Jeju and this is perhaps the most stunning, not only for its location but also because fewer people seem to seek it out. From a ticket booth (there's a 2000w entry fee) on the road at the edge of town, narrow steps lead down the cliff, eventually turning a corner to give you the first view of the falls. At the bottom of the steps a beach of volcanic rock stretches in both directions with the waterfall off to your right, with many a newly-married couple skipping over the rocks to get their picture taken by the falls. The view of Seogwipo Harbour takes the shine off a bit, but this is definitely one of...

Banana Milk

by yatingchen

Korea National Drink is Banana Milk. KRW1000. The bottle is fat cute. Green cover is normal fat, blue low fat. The taste of Banana Milk is nice, but also a bit fake from the artificial flavor. However, it's something that you must try.

Harvest Dances Suwon Folk Village

by hindu1936

The energy these dancers expend could easily generate enough electricity to light New York City for a week. Those little grease spots you see outside the seating area are not places where someone spilled drinks. Those are where dancers went into melt-down and just kind of flowed away. For those who have attended Native American Pow wows, you will be awe struck at the close similarities. Rhythm, cadence, movements, and except for the silk instead of feathers and the brass gongs instead of drums, you cannot help but realize that there is Asian blood in American Indians. Arrive early or you won't get a seat. The last afternoon show begins at 3:00 p.m. and if you are not there by 2:30, you will be standing for an hour.If you are driving, go south on Expressway #1. Take the Singal exit, turn right on #42. Go a hundred meters, turn right onto #23. You will see signs direction you to the folk...
