UN Memorial Cemetery, Busan
United Nations War Cemetery is located within a stone's throw of Yongdusan Park in Busan. It covers a total area of approximately 15 hectares and contains the remains of approximately 2,300 UN soldiers from several countries including South Korea. The South Korean government granted the land permanently to the United Nations free of charge to dedicate those soldiers who lost their lives for defending South Korea in the Korean War between 1950 and 1953. Most of the victims still buried at the cemetery came from Great Britain, Canada, Turkey and Australia. The cemetery was constructed in 1951 by the United Nations.
