    Ulsan - Gimhae express bus
    by DSwede
Busan's Gimhae Airport: there is an express bus to/from downtown Ulsan. Ulsan's stop for Gimhae airport is under the bridge, by the river adjacent to Taehwa Hotel (see picture). Cost is 7400KRW one-way. You must buy the ticket at the vending office next to the bus stop. Gimhae's office is at the domestic terminal (if you get on at international terminal, when passengers at domestic are loading, jump off, buy ticket and come back on). Times to the airport are approximately every 30~40 minutes starting at 5:20am to 21:00pm.
Times to Ulsan are approximately every 30~40 minutes starting at 6:55am to 21:45pm.
    Journey takes 50 minutes.

Alternatively, you can get the bus about 5 minutes later at the Shinbok Rotary.
See web link below for departure schedule (in order Taehwa Rotary, Shinbok Rotary, Gimhae Intl, Gimhae domestic).

Otherwise you can get there by:
Train: Ulsan is serviced by a train station from Seoul, Daegu, Kyongju, and Busan. (Ulsan's train station is about 1km east of Lotte Hotel).

Bus: Almost every other place in between has service to Ulsan from their intercity bus stations (Ulsan's bus terminal is immediately behind Lotte Hotel.)

Ulsan Airport: Ulsan's airport has hourly flights to Seoul's Gimpo airport. From the airport, taxi to the city ranges from 6000~12000KRW depending on where you want to go.

  • The inter-city and express bus terminals are just next to each other. So if you need to take a bus to Gyeongju, take the express bus . If you need to go to Donghae and beyound, take the inter-city bus terminal. I took a bus from here to Sokcho and it took me about 7 hours...

    Gyeongju - Bulguksa Bell
    by DSwede
Kyongju was a ruling seat of the part of the old empire, with some nice parks and historic sites. Having worked in Ulsan for several months, I have found my way to Kyongju many times. Among the highlights was Anapji (original name of Imhaejeon), a temple built around an artificial pond made as a bird sanctuary. Other highlights are Bulgoksa Temple, which is one of the largest, most famous temples in Korea; it is beautiful, but heavily visited. There was one Buddhist site, Sokkul Am, that I went to that was on a high mountain top.

On another particular visit I went back when it was cloudy and rather cool, but wasn’t too bad. As I went up, the clouds closed in with heavy fog, then rain, then snow. By the time I got there, the temp had fallen to -5C. The fog added a pretty cool mystique to the architecture and forest. So, as a testimonial, you should visit, rain or shine, winter or summer!

  • Directions: About 1 hour north of Ulsan by car, bus or train (all offer services between Ulsan and Kyongju)

    Girimsa Temple
    by DSwede
Went to Girimsa Temple, which was very nice. It wasn’t as large as Bulgoksa, but was cleaner, kept up and in a beautiful mountain valley. If the time of year is to your advantage, the mountains and temple have many cherry blossoms that bloom.

  • Directions: About 1.5 hours by car north, then east of Ulsan. 1/2 hour east of Kyongju

This is the university area of Ulsan. There will be many students and young professionals out. There are countless boutiques, restaurants, bars, PC-bongs, etc. You can find almost everything here either in the stores or being sold on the street vendors.

  • Directions: Mugoedong. (Say Mugeo-dong ULsan Dae hakeyo) Adjacent to the western campus of Ulsan University
