Koreans like to bump and shove...

by loobear

Koreans like to bump and shove their way through crowds and this is very apparent in crowded shopping centres in Seoul....and not a word of 'excuse me' or 'I'm sorry'.....The tour guide that was accompanying us told us that it was a way of life here.....It is a way of life that I will never get use to.

The war between the North and...

by Bodhran

The war between the North and South is not over. Be on your best behavior if you visit the border areas and don't discuss Korean politics. If you are an adoptive parent of a Korean child, generally elderly people are pleased that the children have found loving homes and welcome seeing happy family pictures. Younger people are suspicious and I was horrified to hear from one college student that she thought we adopted them for body parts for transplants! I'd give my life for my children!! When she came to the states, we invited her to a Korean Lunar New Year party with hundreds of families (some blond moms in hanboks!) and homemade Korean food. She got the message and hopefully she passed it on when she returned to Seoul.
