Bamboo Garden (slightly chilled lounge bar: Chinese but no garden
There is only a terraced area no actual garden at this restaurant but it has a fairly nice view and quite stylish. Finding licensed restaurants in kandy can be a bit hard to find so the ones that are usually are fairly busy with tourists.
We came to enjoy a few beers with Albert Kumar Rochet from solidestinations travel he runs Eco friendly tours and home stay accommodations for his guests and flys the humanitarian flag a lovely guy. The large beer bottles are about lkr400 so a bit expensive also you cannot get strong beer here.
We ordered a beef fried rice and chicken fried rice asked for soy sauce and chilli paste, it was tasty a bit small for lkr 550. Albert had a beef burger which thankfully was a homemade patty but not very well seasoned.
I did not feel the waiters English was brilliant he had to ask someone else to clarify what kind of burger patties it was this was also with the help of my Sri Lankan friend.
Open daily 11am to 11pm with no alcohol served on Poya (maybe in a teapot if you are lucky)

Rams Food Restaurant: Splurge for good meal at Rams
One guidebook described the decor as colorful. That doesn't really do it justice. They don't allow pictures inside so you'll have to visit yourself.
They didn't offer silverware so we took it as a challenge and didn't request any (I bet they would have provided them).
Favorite Dish: The food was excellent. Some things were expensive by local standards like Rs. 285 for palak paneer. Diners on a budget would likely enjoy the vegetable curry sampler for Rs. 135. We were going through a bit of chocolate withdrawl so splurged for the very nice ice cream desserts.
Eatmore: Halal Food
I got a bored of eating veggies and it isnt that Im a veggie, but I had to look for a restro that served halal meat. I had a tough time finding this one, but it was worth it.
Favorite Dish: I tried so many local dishes, similar to Indian curries and the way the rice is made aswell.

Not known: good view by the river
Not knowing the restaurant, my driver drove me there so he could have his free meal, of course. A tourist oriented restaurant with inflated prices, food quality was alright. Rice and curry Rs400, Coke Rs60. It has excellent river view, a good lunch to celebrate my own birthday! :-)
Ram's restaurant!: Ram's restaurant!
First of all it's a south indian cuisine, it is delicious, it's just damn good! For a very cheap price you are able to have a big full meal.
Warning, don't order to many of it, as it was a big meal
Favorite Dish: Pepper Chicken Dosa and Banana Lassi
The Pub: The Pub
Needless to say, the Pub is a most welcomoing places for English or expat. It is pricy and a glass of beer RS200. The balcony is a great place to unwind and meet other travellers. See more pics for street scene.
DJ's Restaurant: Good authentic Sri Lankan fare
If you're in Kandy, don't miss out on the great Sri Lankan cuisine at DJ's Restaurant (Don Jerome Codippily). Next to the Ayurveda Wedagedara in the Deveni Rajasingha Mawatha area, it's a unique opportunity to experience authentic local fare. The distance from the city may be around 4/5 kms.
We had gone there for lunch. So had quite a few tourists. You can either sit in an open but sheltered area or inside the restaurant. We chose the former and requested for a regular meal. We got coconut sambol, jackfruit, ochre, banana flowers, white radish, 'dal' (lentils), baby jackfruit, rice and chicken. It was a sumptuous spread. Along with a beer and a coke, the bill (2 persons) came to a mere LKR 1,430 or roughly US $ 14. There is a 10% Service Charge added to the bill.

Bougan villa Restaurant: Off the beaten track
Great food, rustic surroundings, quiet ambience. If you want a restaurant that is far from the madding crowd, and serves great food, try the in-house restaurant of bougan villa guesthouse.
You will eat in a light and airy dining room overlooking long verandahs, lawns and paddy fields beyond. You might even be eating rice from the paddy field you are looking at, as this place grows their own paddy. Much of the produce is local, and fresh.
The cuisine is international--lots of pasta and rice dishes, with some very interesting asian/fusion appetisers.
The location is about 7 miles from Kandy, off the Kandy-Gampola-Nuwara Eliya road, close to the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens and the Gadaladeniya and Embekke temples. A good place to stop for lunch if you are taking in these sights, or on your way to Nuwara Eliya from Colombo.
Favorite Dish: The avocado and shrimp appetiser--the flavours were subtle, and the avocado was just right--not too raw or too ripe. And it looked good too.
Pinnalanda Restaurant: Watch the elephants bathe
The Pinnalanda Restaurant at Pinnawella Elephant Orphanage is a great place to go and watch the elephants bathe while you enjoy a bite to eat.
It is located just across the road from the main entrance of the park and caters to the hoards of tourists who stop for lunch at the park.
A lunch buffet is laid on daily and has the usual array of curries and rice and fruit to follow. I chose a sandwich from the menu which was tasty enough and around the same cost as the buffet.
Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly.
Favorite Dish: Buffet looked ok, sandwich was tasty.
Devon: Good value
It has a restaurant on ground floor and food court on 1st floor. The food is cheap with balcony of the street view.
Senani Restaurant: Food with a view
Nice view overlooking Kandy city from above and nice food, good service, and clean as well.
Favorite Dish: Try the fried spicy fish...yummm!!
