Looking out across the ocean from Nilaveli beach, on the horizon you'll see a small island. This is Pigeon Island. You can hire a small boat to take you over there - they'll dump you there for a few hours or longer and return to pick you up later. There are some great beaches and if you go early in the morning not many people apart from fishermen. It's excellent for swimming and snorkelling and scuba diving, and there are rocks to scramble around on covered in thousands of crabs. The water is absolutely crystal clear.

Nilaveli Beach Hotel: Go before the world hears about it!

Favorite thing: i like to live in nilaveli. because i has spend lot of time with nilaveli beach.so i like to live in near beach.. and i have most of friend in there.. so i missed all friends now
Fondest memory: i have most of friends in nilaveli so i miss all of my friends. and i was teaching also in nilaveli so i did'nt forget in my teaching life. and i like to live in nilaveli

After visiting Trincomalee, we drove a little further north to stay at Nilaveli Beach Hotel. Just lovely - deserted beach, great hotel, very good food and we had a very nice room. Definitely...
