my favourite places to eat SRI LANKAN FOOD were the guesthouses: the 'Green Woods' in Kandy and the 'Villa Araliya' in Tangalle. see the accomodation section for addresses. in Ella the 'Rawana Inn' was also good, they took me to the sunday-market and asked what I would like to eat... 'jackfruit-curry and lotus-stem-curry' was my answer... and we bought the required items. Sri Lankans eat 'rice and curry' on every second day. the other days they eat 'curry and rice'. you get a big plate of rice and 3 or 4 little bowls with different vegetable or meat preparations. it always looks a bit as they swept the forest floor for the ingredients: some leaves, shrouds of bark, seeds... are to be found. for breakfast you can have 'hoppers', those can be 'string-hoppers' like thin noodles (served with potato-curry) or a bowl-shaped hopper. if you find an egg in the bowl-shaped thingy, than it is an...
