We visited the beautiful Brief House & Gardens.
This used to be a rubber plantation, it was bought by Geoffery Bawa, who was a lawyer. Hence the name "Brief".
The House belonged to Bevis Bawa, who's younger brother was Geoffery, a famous Sri Lankan architect. I loved the architecture of this place, quite plain with wonderful artwork here & there.
Famous guests have sat around this table, including Vivien Leigh and Laurance Olivier. Who all stayed here in 1953 during the filming of "Elephant Walk".
This is another peice of work by Donald Friend. A mural of "Sri Lankan Life", its very striking when you see it close up.
