Create your own itinerary cheap and comfortably !

Besides taking a Tuc-Tuc or a taxi to reach the nearby attractions, a whole round-trip to the cultural triangle in Sri-Lankas "midlands" is strongly recommended.
To get a hassle-free and totally individual roundtrip, up until now I used the excellent services of a Colombo agency, LANKA VACATIONS.
The owners, Mrs and Mr Farook care for very useful proposals and will send you a preliminary itinerary with hotels, attractions etc well in advance. We got always an AC-car with driver and local guide and were able to decide even on the short run about the length and main focus of our daily program.
As an excellent standard-program I and our family did already 3 times I recommend: Bentota-Pinnawela (elephant sanctuary)-Anuradhapura-Aukhana (giant Buddha statue)-Polonaruwa-Sigyria-Dhambulla-Kandy.If time allows, add Mihintale temple near Anuradhapura and consider an extension to Nuwara Elya (tea plantations in the highlands), allow 2 more days.
Last November the whole itinerary as mentioned above took 4-5 days and had been arranged according to our preferences, with excellent hotels, halfboard and all entrance-fees etc. I was charged for 4 nights/5 days around EUR 300,- per person. It was value for money and good service.

    Bentotas Best 3-Wheeler Driver

by Maxus Updated Sep 17, 2008

Ratu (it means red) is a young man who’s family operate several 3-wheelers (AKA Tuk Tuks) from the railway crossing at Bentota.

Ratu is a 'streetwise' but honest guy who will do his best to get you anything you want from a decent bar to a trip inland.

Of course he has a business to run but he won’t cheat you, he wants visitors to have a good time and come back again, he is good company over a beer too.

    Tour guide/driver

If you need a tour guide/driver for your excursions by van or tuk tuk , I can recommend a guy called Sena.

You can meet him at his "offfice" on the beach between Bentota Beach Hotel and Hotel Ceysands, or you can contact him by mail or phone.

You won't regret using Bentota Tour. I have contacted with many different car charter companies in Sri Lanka beforehand but he was an absolute best chauffeur.

Mr.Himashi is an intelligent and knowlegeable about nature/culture and of course Sri Lanka.
He speaks well English and is a very punktual guy. Oh, even he speaks Japanese too!
His car is Prius and really well-maintained.

The plus is he would give quite reasonable price as well.
We have already planed to go back to Sri Lanka since Sri Lanka is such a beautiful country.
And we definately ask Bentota Tour for our partner in Sri Lanka.

    Tuk Tuk

We went around the area in a Tuk Tuk . Very Cheap, it is quite a slow way to travel so ideal for taking photos along the way. (always a plus! )

We went all the way to Galle in the Tuk Tuk, Which was an experience, especially when a bus went in to the side of us.

    A Very Lucky Escape!
