The Liu-Ho Night Market has become a very famous sight in the Kaohsiung city. It's not only a good place for citizens' daily diet, but a great gourmet paradise for people from all the island, even from other countries, to enjoy the civic life pleasure

Purple Rain on the Love River: Expatriates haunt

by charlesracine Written Mar 22, 2008

Worth a stop, several Expatriates were here on the night I was there and English was widely spoken. Some girls were there but, I did not find out what the basis for the place was. It has been there for some time on a main street.

Dress Code: Casual, tie not required.

The Lighthouse Bar & Grill: Place for Expats

by DSwede Written Aug 12, 2008

Since my time in Taiwan was limited, I wanted to capitalize on eating as much local food as I could. Therefore I did not try any of the food at Lighthouse, but have been told by several friends that the western foods served there (fairly large menu) are quite good.

The drinks are always free flowing and served with smiles. It is definitely a place to get a meal and meet up with friends in a western bar setting.

They have some large TV's that show games and big events. They have live music too, depending on the day. Prices for meals and drinks is comparable to all other restaurants.

Dress Code: The dress code is completely casual.

Liuhe Night Market: Do the market shuffle!

by stamporama Written Apr 13, 2010

The night market is not as big as Taipei's or Hong Kong's, the stalls sell mostly street food while the others sell clothes, trinkets, jewelry and other personal effects.

Dress Code: Come as you are!

    The nightlife in Kaohsiung...

The nightlife in Kaohsiung sucks. You've gotta go to Taipei. But if you're stuck in here, try Pig & Whistle.
Not much. The live bands there suck big time!

Dress Code: Come as you are.

    No Time for Nightlife

I didn't actually hit any of the nightlife in Kaohsiung but going by some of the pictures on neons around the city, there is obviously no shortage of dance clubs, Karaoke bars and nightclubs.
