The restaurants here in Kaohsiung are not as great as those in Taipei. But there's a very good dim sum place at ChinaTrust Hotel, the 3rd floor.
The setting is plain. Nothing special though. But you get to pick your food from the little carts which go around the restaurant, unlike some dim sum places in Taipei where you can only order food from the menu.

I didn't actually eat at any inside restaurants but three of us wandered around the street markets. Up and down this one particular street was stalls selling all kinds of food. Too many choices but eventually they got me to make a decision and we stopped at a local shop on a corner, selected our meals and sat at tables outside watching the activity around us.

There is quite a big Japanese restaurant in town which has best Tuna Sashimi. Sorry, we forgot the name.
