Kaohsiung Ruei Fong, Taichung Fengchia: Night markets

by LindaChuang

Taiwan night markets are the most favourite spots of mine. I can't control myself to taste various kinda foods once I go there. There are two night markets I love to walk is Taichung Fengchia night market and Kaohsiung Ruei Feng night market. You can find many kinda Taiwan famous traditional foods and a variety of cheap gadgets at Fengchia night market. In order to buy a good gadget there, you should have experience, and of course bargain is needed ^_^. Erm ~ thẻe is a store famous for milk papaya juice named BeiHui (–k‰ñ), I've never missed their milk papaya juice everytime I go Fengchia, it's fairly tasty. Try it if you have oppotunity to go Fengchia night market, Taichung (taiwan).

Taiwan Night markets: Night Markets

by Kyle-Taiwan

There are many night markets everywhere in Taiwan, not just big cities. I like the ones in Taijong city best, as they are cleaner. But everywhere has them. Most of them have things like: Food/drink, clothing, cheap gadgets, souvenirs, knock offs, music/dvd/vcd, massages, games, small pets etc. Good for picking up cheap souvenirs for people as well!True to Taiwan fashion, food and drinks are the center point for many night markets. casual. not naked, but sleezy is not really frowned upon i guess. Its a family place though, keep that in mind.

assorted market stalls: Night Market

by mickshe

i dont know if night market belongs to this category, but anyway, i want to share my experienced going to the night market, actually in this place you can see lots of local foods and its good to experiment and try new ones but be careful if its clean because i am not sure about it.I always enjoy the "hot pot" where you given raw meat and vegetables to cook by yourself and eat it with chilli sauce or your choice...its very good but tasteless without those magic sauce.I always tried the shrimps and its really good..and their braised beef with noodles. All these food are very cheap but dont buy too much because you will be surprise you can finish them all..just buy some to try.have a good food trip. casual...anything goes since you are eating along the street

Strada Cafe: European Kaohsiung

by millablake

La Strada is owned by a designer, the first two levels being a cafe/bar and the top being his studio.Good music, good coffee and a very relaxed atmosphere. There are a selection of sketchbooks to browse or add too.Check out the Lomo cameras in the glass cabinet at the front. no dress code.

I guess there is no any other department stores in the world will opened 24 hours everyday :) --- at least , I haven't heard any :)

Betel Stands along the Roadside: Binlang Babes

by DirtyRudy

Ever have that craving for a good chew? As everyone knows, nothing can satisfy that craving like betel nuts can.Get your binlang (betel nut) fix at any of the local binlang girls located on the roadsides! Nowadays they're difficult to find in big cities like Taipei, but in the other smaller cities, they're stll alive and well. The laws have become much more strict in the years and no the girls actually have to wear clothes!... well, kind of.If the binlangs don't do it for you, then you can always buy a coffee or a soda from them too. Convenient, eh?

Warner Village Cinemas

by keeweechic

If all else fails you could go and see a movie. The Warner Village cinemas were one of the first big multiplexes. This cinema has 18 theatres spanning across two buildings which also incorporates restaurants.Across the road is the Mitsukoshi Department Store and 5 mins up the road is the Grand Hyatt Hotel.Warner Village Cinemas are in many cities in Taiwan.

Taipei

by keeweechic

A visit to Snake Alley in the evening is interesting. The area has become a popular night market. There are shopping stalls and also many restaurants, some still serving snake, turtle and other gourmet dishes, but don't worry - 'normal' Asian food prevails.Beware, the fellas, entertaining you with the snakes, do not like you to take photos and will get pretty upset if you do - but try it anyway.

Coffee Shops: Coffee Shops

by Kurtdhis

A coffee shop in Taiwan is open pretty late, until midnight or 1 AM at least, and more like a bar than a `coffee shop'. It serves coffee, alcohol, and maybe cookies or something. The coffee costs a fortune ($150 per cup) but they are nice places to hang out

Pubs

by kaipow

I didn't go out much at night when I was there so I can't really speak from experience. However, my cousins have told me there are a lot of pubs to go drinking and clubs to go dancing in the Taipei area.
