Definitely, GO TO NIGHTMARKETS!!!!!!It's one of my favorite things in my life, you could find so many delicious food in nightmarkets! Crowded is a must.;) You will see lots of people are stocked there, eating, shopping, vedaling, kid-screaming.... You don't have to dress up, sometime people will be VERY casual there.;) Oh! and please don't forget to BARGAIN things you want to buy in nightmarkets, so you could buy very cheap and nice thing there. ;) Just casual like I said above.;) You might get dirty in nightmarket too, so T-shirt, jeans, and sports shoes will be fine.;)
For some good techno house music, you have got to go to Room 18. Found inside the Warner Village, a high class shopping mall with cinemas. The DJs are great, some of the best in Taipei. Ocassionally you may find an invited DJ from abroad. It has two rooms, rather small, and a VIP room where all the famous singers and actores hangout. Casual, a bit formal.
For a more underground style, go to the yao tao clubs. Yao Tao in Chinese means crazy head or moving head. Usually techno house places where people suppose some illegal substances might be seen in use. Try Rock Candy 2.Great music and a sceptic decoration. As you want.
Taiwanese people love to sing. Their favorite night life activity is definitely going out to KTV, karaokes. If you like to sing some oldies, you might find it fun! There arent many english songs tho.You can get to share with the local people. I luv to sing. Aparts from that, Taiwanese people's favorite distraction is eating well. So you can have great food, nice singing. As you want.
More information on the Night life in Taipei. A very famous club is KISS la boca. Its one of the oldest and still alive ones. Usually has lively bands playing three sets until 4 and DJ's in between. The enviroment is very nice, elegant and cozy. The bands that play there usually can make a crowd move and dance all night. Friday nights are free to get in before 10. Watch out tho, it might get really crowded. Wednesday nights are Ladies night, ladies get in for free! You have to be a bit more dressed up than usual.
The best nightlife spot in Taipei is definitely the Sr. Ta University area, you may find a vast number of clubs. Roxy 99-Normally packed during weekends with a friendly enviroment. Mostly consisted of the foreign community. Later on you may have the option of moving on the shuttle bus to their dancing location ROxy Vibe, shuttle bus from door to door.Just on the block you may find some live music at Brown Sugar. Great music, prodigy and rage against the machine nights at SPIN, and then 45.Its a best way to have fun in the night life in taipei during weekends. Do not miss these places. You will definitely meet a lot of new, friendly and interesting people that come from all the world. As you want, as confortable as you want to feel.
The night market is a very special local business activity. At this lively night market you will find everything from men's and women's clothes to electronics, compact discs and more, all at the bargain price. By the way, you can try the traditional local dishes at the food stands. This night market would be very crowded and noisy but it is really funny.
Taipei has a lively nightlife scene, with no shortage of bars, pubs and beerhalls. One of old Cliffie's favourites is the Ploughman, not least because when old Cliffie stood there recounting how his luggage had gone astray to Korea the barman offered a tee-shirt on the house. Old Cliffie still wears it, in its fading glory, when he's out for an early morning run.

If ever you meet a Taiwanese they will ask you for a kan pai which means cheers, bottoms up. You must drink each time they say kan pai, i think it is their tradition. any dress will do, even if you wear slippers or sandals
