Ah Chung Mee Sua: Delicious rice noodles with intestine!

by pepemorris11

Be prepared to queue up and to holler your order. Again, just point if you can't make yourself understood! A bowl of steaming hot noodles and yes, intestines from the pig on a cold winter's day is really out of this world. it's so good you won't cringe when you know it is intestines that you are eating. ...and oh yes, be prepared to stand while you slurp!

tamago ya (dan-dan wu): the omelet rice that brings you happiness!

by msbobblehead

"Tamago" means "egg" in japanese, and "ya" means "house". This cute restaurant specializes in egg dishes, omelet rice in particular, like its name infers.Omelet rice (omu-raisu) is one of the byproducts brought in to being when the traditional Japanese clashes with the west. Fried rice wrapped in thick layers of omelet....hmmmm....this is one hell of a combination that you dont want to miss.At Tamagoya, you can enjoy the omelet rice with curry souce, deep fried pork cultet, prime ribs, and etc.The prime rib omelet rice is the most expensive one on the menu, yet it is only 280 NT.Tamagoya opens at 11:30 am daily. If you plan to go, make sure to be there AT or BEFORE 11:30 though because the line is ridiculously long during lunch time. pork cutlet curry omelet rice:i personally like the pork cutlet curry omelet rice very much.i have a thing for japanese pork cutlet (ton katsu) so everytime...

Yangminshan Lunch

by limledi

Our relatives in Taiwan brought us to a restaurant in Zhuzi-hu (bamboo lake) in Yangminshan after touring the calla lily plantation. This is the most satisfying meal we had in Taipei. Indeed, it was very cheap & delicious costing only about NT$2500. It was a set menu with vegetables, meat, fish, soup, eat-all-you-can rice, chicken, pork etc... We had difficulty finishing the whole set with 10 of us. The restaurant was packed with people having their lunch after the morning tour. The whole set menu is delicious.

Hualien Wanton Soup

by limledi

Mr. Lu Lai-Fu, our guide took us to a restaurant in Hualien serving delicious wanton soup. Costing around NT$60 per bowl. It is quite filling & satisfying. The guide told us that it's the specialty of Hualien. We had this dinner prior to our train back to Taipei from Hualien. Delicious Wanton Soup.

Yehliu Lunch

The restaurant we went to after our Yehliu Geopark tour is along the street near the park entrance. It is a simple eatery serving cheap food. You can eat cheaply at around NT$60 for a lunch set. Food is just ok for the price. none

Smokey Joe's: Don't Waste Your Money!

by AnthonyInTaiwan

To be fair, let me start out with the pro's. Smokey Joe's has a pretty trendy Tex-Mex Acapulco meets Chevy's atmosphere. The quality of the food was ok for a non-mexican owned Mexican restaurant in Asia. That being said, it was one of the most disappointed dining experiences I've ever had in Taiwan. I read a review that this place had good quality, even authentic food. So, on my trip to Kenting, it was the first restaurant I visited. The portions were extremely small and the mixed drinks tasted as if they only had a couple drops of liquor. The set priced meal which should be bigger than buying a-la carte looked like a small appetizer. It costed about $18 american for the entree (supposedly for 4 people) but my father was so upset (full blooded Mexian here on vacation) with the food and service there that he didn't even want to eat. So that left my wife (90lb chinese girl) and I to eat...

Breeze centre: International and local food

by pepemorris11

This is a food court just above the Taipeh main railway station. Airconditioned and clean. You can find international and local Taiwanese food here. Prices are reasonable and the portions are big. You can just point to the pictures to order. Unfortunately, the menu is not in English. That's where the pointing comes in!

Hualien Xiang Pian Shi (GH): Yummy Dumpling!

by munapong

Chanced upon this chain of food stalls. They have good dumplings and noodles soup. To order, simply get an order form and pencil and tick, and hand over to the stall vendor. I like the mixed dumpling (meat, vegetable, prawns) and hot soup for cool weather =)

Shabu Shabu: Don`miss Shabu Shabu

by PauloMacedo

Shabu shabu is one of Japan's most popular dishes and is like a fondue. It consists of thin slices of raw beef and raw vegetables, cooked by each diner at the table in a pot of hot broth. Shabu-shabu means "swish-swish," referring to the swishing action and the sound that is made when you cook a very thin slice of beef swished through the broth hot water. Shabu Shabu
