Shilin Night Market! One of the busiest night market I've went so far. It's not just crowded, it's PACKED with people, like canned sardines.
I can understand why Shilin was so crowded. It has a wide mix of clothes stalls, food stalls and game stalls etc, etc. You get to see and experience alot of things in Shilin night market which makes it so colourful and hence, so attractive to local Taiwanese and tourists.
Everybody would think of food when they talk about night market, isn't it. Shillin is famous for it's Hao Da Da chicken chop, Squid thick soup and many others. Because there are so many clothes shops and stalls, you can shop around, eat, then shop around again then eat again! :P
The pic shows a shillin "hawker centre" that housed many of the famous food stalls. But that place was extremely hot and stuffy and humid with the customer crowd and from the cooking smoke and heat. Wlak further down, you'll see two roads with open air food stalls. Those 2 roads are also considered Shillin night market, so you can see how big the Shilin night market is.
It's definitely worth a visit. Bring along empty stomach!

Miaokow nightmarket in Keelung is historical once since Japanese colony time.
It's based from a temple and then developed many food stands like today.
Under good management each vendor was given a number. Every good stand has its characters and loyal customers. It opens from 10~11AM. In the evening you have to stand in long lines for food.
Dress Code: Casual with slipers.

Located in the heart of the city, this is a very cool place to spend your night. With old Chinese furnitures, Chinese tea, wine, cocktail. And also some snacks. You can play cards inside, but not allowed to gamble. If you feel hungry and not satified with it's snacks. There's also a "Hot Pot" restaurant right next to it. The price is not that cheap but the flavor is really good.
