I'm allergic to smokes, so I hate going to places that allows people smoking indoor. Somehow, in Taiwan, you can smoke indoors if you don't feel like smoking outside in the cold. So I barely hang out with my friends in the bars, clubs anymore. Maybe it's because it's been so long, so I decided to hang out with some friends that I didn't see for a long time. They picked a very nice little bar. I was impressed. People still smoke inside the bar but it didn't seem to be too smokey. I had a very good time there chatting with the good friends. No too noisy so you don't have to yell and shout.

Shilin Market by dennisKL This is really a very large market in Taipei. Get yourself for a few hours walk. If you are stop at the Jian Dan Station, opposite of this is a large hawker center which is fixed with air-cond that you can actually feel betther especially during hot summer. Check out for the mix fruit juices and local food. Keep to the left of the street you will find a large electronic and mobile discount stall. Check out for some good deal. If you notice, local people are more prefer to walk around with their pets rather than their partner:). Leave a Comment Theme: Family SpotDirections: Make sure you drop at the JianDan Station not the Shilin Station, else you will need to walk quite a distance.

Ximen Night Market by dennisKL This is where you can find those branded stuff and delicious foods. The price is acceptable depends on what type of good's quality you seeking for. My suggestion is to look around a few stall before you get purchase. You may find different prices for the same item. You may also get discount like what i did. See how well you do a bargain......I think most people can do...right?:) Being a singer?Karaoke Louge and Pubs are all availables. Watch out for the pets! Bringing along with pets is a very comment things happen over here. (So do bring your pet but not your kids.....yo!Joking....) The shop is about to open from 11am....most of them may only open at 2 or 3pm. There are almost no shop open early in the morning. Don't get yourself there before 11am. Hopefully you may found a coffee shop.
Just a normall dressing will do. Leave a Comment Theme: Family SpotAddress: Take the Metro MRT and stop at the Ximen StationDirections: Get out from the Ximen Metro Station and follow Exit 6. You are exactly in front of the night market.

by keeweechic If all else fails you could go and see a movie. The Warner Village cinemas were one of the first big multiplexes. This cinema has 18 theatres spanning across two buildings which also incorporates restaurants. Across the road is the Mitsukoshi Department Store and 5 mins up the road is the Grand Hyatt Hotel. by THLIN In this place people can chose whether to dine a meal or jsut have some snacks and get something to drink! They have cosy sofa with lovely atmosphere, every time I go there, I enjoy the place a lot. But it may be annoying for those who doesn't smoke, due to lack of saparation for smoking or non-smoking area. Their restaurant close at am1:00; and they close at am2:00 during the week. Enjoy your night!!
I think smart casul is required, at least wear aomething nice!! Not to make yourself look sloppy is important, because everyone there looks great!! Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: No 68 Section2nd AnHe Rd Taipei CityPhone: 02-2702-5588Directions: Near Far-Eastern Hotel

by THLIN What most Taipei young generations do is to sing in a karaoke. In one of the most popular thing to do here. In these places, they offer up-to-date Chinese songs among Asia Pacific region, however, they do have English ones to offer, but in comparison of the formers, I think the former ones are more enjoyable and more in quality and quantity. What's more, singing all night long with buffet serving only cost you less than US$10 . Or you can choose to have good meal, which also cost you less than US$10, and you enjoy whole night through as well. But be sure to choose legel karaokes, because there were many quarrels in illegel ones before, and caused some unwanted results.
Casual, because you are singing with your companions in a private room, so don't worry about your lousy voice. (That's based on my personal experience. ) Leave a Comment

by THLIN if you can't sleep feeling like studying for someting free, you can simply come here. With the lastest design for the store, it's a very fashinable place for reading. If you are tired, there is a cafe just near the bookstore, where you can order some drinks or snack even a meal. Sometimes you can even see a local star in the book store.
Anything good for a book store. Leave a Comment

lights at sofa by theserene1 Sofa is the place to go- at least once. I was there practically once a week when I first arrived. Good ambience and funky decor---> retro couches and lighting fixtures. The artwork is changed once in a while too. The food (get the bacon + cream pasta or smoked chicken salad) is great and there are a lot of choices of drinks too, ranging from alcoholic to non-alcoholic beverages. There is a funky mix of crowds that go to sofa and the spot stays open till late.. best of all there's a little Dj booth where there's an eclectic/indie/loungey section of CDs for sale!!! I love getting new tunes from there (though they might be a little more pricey). Overall- can't go wrong at sofa!
