Shrlin night market or Lungshan temple market
If you're into slithering snakes, food on sticks, foot massages or cheap clothes then this is the place for you. If not, then its still worth going to check it out.
Dress Code: Apparently snakes are attracted to black. It's your call from there!

Just like my friend told me, KTV and Karaoke are two completely different things. Karaoake i knew existed, KTV i did not! It is madness but so much fun. Basically we walked into this 4 floor place (apparently there is one 10 floors), each floor having at least 20 rooms, just like a hotel. Every room is complete with a large TV set, coaches, tables, and sophisticated Karoake machines and an en-suite bathroom. Once you're in it's all what you can drink (tea, coffee) and eat of ice-cream for free. Basically, they try to keep you in there for the longest time possible and guess what? It totally works, my friends and i stayed 5.5 hours and they explained later it was an average night. Me who sounded like Marlon Brando from the godfather by then, didn't quite think so! Top night!!

Room 18 (in the Warner Village) did not live up to some of the hype that I had read about it on the Internet. The music was pretty mediocre 'dance pop', the crowd seemed a little shallow, and there were far too many foreigners there.
Dress Code: Nice dress required.

Saints & Sinners was a good bar (no dancing) with a wonderful staff (our waitress Candy was great) on the weeknight that I visited in March 2002. Nice selection of mixed drinks. Didn't try the food there.

Sonic Lemon had a thriving techno dance scene with a lot of people dancing and having a great time. Almost entirely locals which I like. It was energetic and friendly, but extremely packed at 2 AM on the weekend. I think they stay open until 8 AM on the weekends? My oh my..
Dress Code: No dress code, but go in club clothes ready to dance.

It was kind of quiet when I went there, but it was during the week and it's open every night until 5am.
The owner is Tony Chen...friendly guy who'll teach you Taiwanese salsa! :)
You pay a cover to get in but then all drinks are free. The cover was roughly $15USD. Stick to the bottled drinks...cocktails weren't so good.
Dress Code: Casual.

KISS: With the girls from Cali...
Where else can you see men doing the 'choo choo' all night long!
A very large club with two different rooms for music selection. The main floor has a stage. In the summer of 98, the wanna-be backstreet boys were there...it was HILARIOUS watching the Taiwanese locals try and imitate their moves...well worth the trip! We would hit Kiss on Wednesdays (Ladies Night) or Fridays... And the BEST was finding a BMW taxi cab with DVD system waiting for you outside...only in TAIPEI baby!
Dress Code: Not strictly enforced.
