This little place has been in for more than 30 years, which assures quality. They have many secret flavoured. For example, Japanese green tea, coffee milk, and original milk one. Those are made from SECRET recipe, invented by store owner. I think foreigners can enjoy local atmosphere. It locates in Shi Lin night market, where is also very well-located. You can find other stuffs you like around that area.
WARNING: There is NO English sign or direction. The best way is to find a VTer like ME (haha...), so fine a local and tell him you want"chua bing & XinFaTing"

I really like Taiwanese ice kachang. Among all flavors, I like yam/taro with condensed milk. This place offer they best sweetened yam/taro that I've ever tasted. Their ice chopped is different from most of their competitors, it's larger and chewy, which makes their ice kachang so special.

This two-storeys high shop serves goose meat, with a choice of either rice noodles or yellow noodles. It is the soup that gives a punch. The soup is rich in flavours and makes you wanna have a second serving. The price is fair too although it is famous in Hsimenting.

One has a huge selection of side dishes apart from the standard of vegetables and broth. We opted for the seafood with 5 additional items picked and the servings are HUGE!! The seafood items include prawn, crabsticks, scallops, fish and fishballs but should alternatives be selected.. meat can be added on as additionals.

The environment isnt naturally 5* as it IS a night market after all.. but the wonderful aroma's wafting out from the restaurant was enough to make us stop and give it a go. Despite the fact that my travel mates and I were all non-Mandarin speakers, the aid of sign language got us enough to order the seafood steamboat and with plenty of condiments, a cold COLD rainy winter night - a full tummy it was for all of us.

    Seafood steamboat - !

Like a typical sausage filling - however rather than having a sausage bread, the dough/batter surrounds the meat and is deep-fried *yes* it is fattening to say the least but its well worth it !

I tried the cuttlefish sausage - simply amazing.

Comes with an array of sauces for extra flavour. Give the sweet chili sauce a go for the extra 'kick'

I really enjoy spicy hot pot in Taipei. This dish was originated in Si Chuan, but now it's well-localised and becomes one of the very best dish in Taiwan. In most of hot pot resaturants, cutomers has a lot of choices between SPICY, CURRY, Vegetarian, tomato soup, plain, or even herbal flavour. In this pic, there are curry, spicy and plain flvours.
This places is more suitable for a gruop of people due to its atmosphere.

Now most of spicy hot pot restaurants in Taipei has become buffet type. They serve meat, vegetables, noodle, salad, ice cream, ice kachong. But their drinks are very expensive. In Chuan Gou, I love their green tea and sweat patato ice kachong. Normally I eat this with condensed milk and red beans. And I like their spicy and curry hot pots.
