    Taipei Dumplings
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Street vendors are a common sight in Taipei - when the weather gets colder, having a warm snack is like manna from heaven.

There is a variety of dumplings available from the vendors and this one contains meat fillings.

Price is NT$30 for 5 pieces.

  • This little place has been in for more than 30 years, which assures quality. They have many secret flavoured. For example, Japanese green tea, coffee milk, and original milk one. Those are made from SECRET recipe, invented by store owner. I think foreigners can enjoy local atmosphere. It locates in Shi Lin night market, where is also very well-located. You can find other stuffs you like around that area.
WARNING: There is NO English sign or direction. The best way is to find a VTer like ME (haha...), so fine a local and tell him you want"chua bing & XinFaTing"

I really like Taiwanese ice kachang. Among all flavors, I like yam/taro with condensed milk. This place offer they best sweetened yam/taro that I've ever tasted. Their ice chopped is different from most of their competitors, it's larger and chewy, which makes their ice kachang so special.

This two-storeys high shop serves goose meat, with a choice of either rice noodles or yellow noodles. It is the soup that gives a punch. The soup is rich in flavours and makes you wanna have a second serving. The price is fair too although it is famous in Hsimenting.

McDonalds is everywhere.. do I REALLY have to say more... as each country has its own signature dish - wanted to see how this one went - hence the trying by Shirly to the pork burgers which is available in 2 flavours - bbq and sweet n' sour..

Reviews came back with non too bad rating.
Mind you - the drinks are already super sized so there is no reason to ask for more.

    Fried sausages
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Another street item for pickings, the sausage can be either pork, seafood or even vegetable (tofu) - simply select which and the roll is fried on the spot. Should extra spice be needed - add either ketchup or the local chili sauce.

    Chuan Guo: Peri Peri--Spicy!!!!!!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • I really enjoy spicy hot pot in Taipei. This dish was originated in Si Chuan, but now it's well-localised and becomes one of the very best dish in Taiwan. In most of hot pot resaturants, cutomers has a lot of choices between SPICY, CURRY, Vegetarian, tomato soup, plain, or even herbal flavour. In this pic, there are curry, spicy and plain flvours.
This places is more suitable for a gruop of people due to its atmosphere.

Now most of spicy hot pot restaurants in Taipei has become buffet type. They serve meat, vegetables, noodle, salad, ice cream, ice kachong. But their drinks are very expensive. In Chuan Gou, I love their green tea and sweat patato ice kachong. Normally I eat this with condensed milk and red beans. And I like their spicy and curry hot pots.

    Aubergine: Curry
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • It's a direct branch from Japan. So I think they can provide authentic Japanese food.
But their salad and soup are someting to be ingored. Their Soup was OK but not satisfiable, their salad was too bad without no nothing special. Their drink was ok at the average level.

Curry with french chicken taste. It's chicken is tasty and curry is really Japanese. Personally, I recommand second spicy, which is the for best chioce for non-hot-eater.

    Las Vegas...: What to eat.........
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • It is a fancy chain restaurant. Most of its branches are in Taipei.
Here you can enjoy an all-you-can-eat meal. What they offer more is seafood, ranging from Japanese sushi to Taiwanese dishes, Chinese dim sum, western cake, steak, salad, Japanese dessert, and Hogean Das ice cream. Also you can ask chef to make newly frilled calamari or steak.
Besides salad, they have traditional Taiwanese fried vegetable, I believe you can smooth your stomach after too much meat... :-)
They also have alcoholic dirinks, herbal tea, soft drinks, beer, fresh juice and so on.

I like their dim sum and alcolholic drink. Their dim sum is quite authentic; and I can make whiskey-and-water, which is one of my favorite.
But as a rule of thumb, I don't suggest diners drink too much beer there. Their Japanese sushi and dessert are very nice and very fresh. So don't worry about anything, open your mouth and gobble......
Their cake is not too bad, but just try a few pieces and I think it should be enough.

Ah Zong Mian Xian: Best Rice Noodles in Taipei
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Everyone going to Taipei should try Ah Zong Mian Xian. It's tasty and suits the Chinese taste buds, though there is a tinge too much of MSG. :-)

Ah Zong Mian Xian consist of Rice Noodles and Pig's Intestines.(I think)

And it's cheap. 35NT for small bowl, 50NT for large bowl.
