When the Nationalist (Kuomintang) government fled the mainland in 1949, it brought to Taiwan many of China's greatest art treasures and most important antiquities.
This is one of them: 'Chao Yu ritual wine vessel used by the Duke of Chao. Early Western Chou Dynasty, ca 11-10 Century BCE.'
The many glories in the National Museum are not to be missed.

Taipei's National Palace Museum houses a large assemblage of Chinese art treasures, most of the museum's 620 000 art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collection, which began over 5000 years ago in the early Sung dynasty. Much of the collection is rotated regularly, making each visit unique.

When going to the National Palace Museum, it is better to go by public transportation. I went by car on Sunday and had to wait for more than an hour to get a place inside the Museum's parking lot.
Parking is free of charge!
