Visit Taroko, take a slow train there and enjoy the scenes as the train chugs along, remember your starbucks and da bao zi (big meat buns). At Taroko, book a taxi tour (NT2000 - rate @ 2006) and keep your own time. You must do homework and know in advance what you want to do, discuss with the driver so he can schedule as well.

If you go to Alishan, goto Fencihu and try the Ah Lang train box lunch. Its near to the Fencihu train station, ask for directions, the people are friendly to point you to the place. You can buy the round tin souvenior lunch box from Ah Lang - quite cool but ex.

If you go to Tamshui, you must try the baozi (meat bun) and fishball soup just to the left-ear direction of Mr Leslie Mackay's head statue. Sorry no offense to fans of Mr. Leslie Mackay but that's as much as i can recall about the location of the shop and i forgot to note the shop's name as well. Thing is, its just baozi and fishball but like that Stephen Chow movie "Eat God", eating a simple bowl of cha siew rice also can cry, excuse my Singlish. Its really delicious, at the first bite i felt like my face lit up and my eyes just shone, strange i only had one. Oh yea, it was gone before i could get to them.

That's it, cheers for bearing with me.

The religions are very different in Taiwan. Tao is one of the most important religions. Every 3 years or even a decade of years this kind ceremony is held in some temple. The period depends on the draw, the god's hint to the followers. The Tao ceremony was set for praying that God lead people to steady life with rain and wind, with food and clothes. As you see in this picture, every different temples set similiar kind of tower for the ceremony. During the days with ceremony, local followers can't eat meat until the whole activity finishes.

Ching Jing Veteran Farm - 11

These are the pictures of the surroundings of the farm at an alititude of more than 3000m high. Weather is cool throughout the year. Nothing much here. But i do advice traveller to come themselves and find accomodations. there are many homestays and local accomodations which can offer better and memorable experience than those recognised hotels. There are not many established hotels in Ching Jing Veteran Farm county. Try to avoid coming here on weekends or public holidays as prices will sky-rocket twice to triple the normal price. Arriving on normal weekdays is fine and you can have the luxury to bargain for the rooms rates on weekdays.

In Tainan, this is not just a coffe shop, but my favorite breakfast shop. It just cost me US$4 dollars for a sel of delicious breakfast. My collegue Heather took the picture with me before she left Taiwan. She loved it, too.

There are different kinds of tea or cafe shops stands on every street. The business were competitive but atrract customers to get in more and more often. This picture was taken in Nai-Tou, beside the highway, an artist made this house by picking some touchwoods found during 921 earth quake. A very creative and nice place to meet and talk.

"YA" is a common pose here. Foreigners are intersested in our gesture when we have photos. In this pictures i'm at the right, and the left girl is my cousin, who is going to engage in this year as well.
