When shopping in Taiwan, the cheapest and better department store to visit is definately Carrefor. They sell really fresh produce an are also the most organised and cheapest and cleanest.

SHOPPING TIPS
* Shops are open seven days a week, from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm.Large shopping centers may stay open to 9:00 pm and offer more Westernized ambiance. Night markets usually begin their business at twilight.

* For foreign buyers, the safest places to shop are those shops designated by the Taiwanese Tourism Administration, where one can always feel at ease about the price and quality of goods and can find a money changing desks. Anyone who wishes to try bargaining with vendors had better change his money in advance.

* Keep all receipts in case you might want to return or exchange your purchases. Bargaining is only possible with private vendors in street stalls, who don't usually agree to refunds or exchanges.

What to buy: Shopping centers are large and comfortable and offer a full range of commodities, Chinese or foreign brands, from cosmetics, daily-use articles, garments and home electric appliances to self-service corners. They also have restaurants and coffee bars attached. Each shopping center has a commercial area nearby.

Carrefor is an all in one store. Each Carrefor store comprises of about five different levels ranging from household appliances, right through to clothing and automotive accessories.

What to pay: A months worth of groceries can cost as little as 5 000 Taiwanese dollars.(143 US Dollars)
