 kenmerk Says:  Prior to embarking on such an arduous journey, it is best to stop and pay tribute to the Great God of White Water at the Juisui Rafting Center... A simple offering of some Chingtao Beer, or maybe a few betel nuts will likely bring you good karma that you will need for your... 

 kenmerk Says:  Well... I guess we didn't win... (or maybe we did, I had a few too many beers by the time the finish line was breached...) My team did give me the time-honoured ceremonious dunking of the Captain, though... (as token of their respect, or so they told me...) 

 kenmerk Says:  Its neck and neck at the finish line, and the winner is... 

 kenmerk Says:  Here is one of the many whirlpools along the way. These would invariably suck in one boat, then another, then another, until they were stack up one on top of the other... (OK, well, lets just say that the competiion wasn't all that stiff...) 

 kenmerk Says:  Well, since I am the team captain, it fell upon me to pick a suitable team worthy of my leadership. The first five spots went to cute local girls of ages not to exceed 25 years old.... l 

 kenmerk Says:  Expect lots of boats on the river... Taiwan is a small island, with few such venues for rafting, and so there will be more than a few rafts on the river on any given summer day... 

 kenmerk Says:  Also, must remember not to take any pictures of Doug... He will invariably drop his oar and start waiving at the camera with a dumb smile on his face, which of course will invariably send the boat careening into the big boulders once again.... 

 kenmerk Says:  The key to making this a fun trip is whether there is enough water in the river for the rapids to be flowing... Conditions were not bad on this day, though I expect next weekend will be ripping... (A big typhoon is now pounding Taiwan with sheets of rain, so I may just have... 

 kenmerk Says:  IF you want to keep you head in one piece it is probably best NOT to take picture when riding thru the rapids...I failed to remember this time and again and invariable kept getting slammed into big boulders for my troubles... 

 kenmerk Says:  Dont ever turn your back, though, as before you know it, one of those dorky guys is trying to move in on your girls...HEY HEY HEY !!!! we will have not of that !!! 

 kenmerk Says:  ... and well after that, I suppose I had to get a couple guys that could row the boat... These two dorky looking foreign guys with the funny looking blue hats would probably have to do, I suppose... (Nobody else wanted them anyway....) 

 kenmerk Says:  ... But as soon as you turn your back for about two seconds, they pounce... (Splashing, throwing buckets of water, and in general acting in a manner that is not consistent with good sportmanship... 

 kenmerk Says:  Sure the other teams are all nice and smiley and all that at the beginnining of the race...
