One of my favourite things on Green island is snorkeling. It is amazing here with so many fish and great coral. Right off the beach. Guides are cheap, around $15 USD, for an hour or so.
Be aware that sometimes there are big waves and coral is sharp, so be careful.
Also it is quite hot there and they give you a wetsuit and life jacket. If you are a strong swimmer you can ask for no life jacket, as it tends to make people motion sick just floating on the water. In the wetsuit it can get quite hot, especially in summer, so feel free to ask them not to give you one.
There are no real dangers, but one should be aware that sea snakes (poisonous but gentle/not aggressive), lion fish and jellyfish can all be encountered. the only thing i have ever had troubles with were jellyfish once when i didnt wear a wetsuit. i was not really hurt, but cause a rash and some itching/minor pain.

Nanliao Port is the port of entry for most people coming to Green Island. It is just south of the town of Nanliao, and has the island's only gas station. (Don't forget this point...)
Easy to hire a scooter here, which is the preferred mode of transport on the island...

This is the reason that I came here... There are places to dive in Taiwan, most of which are not so hot, but Green Island is one of the exceptions...
This part of Taiwan was off limits for a long time, so the marine life was mostly undisturbed for a long time. And so the marine life is abundant here, and for the most part the reefs here are flourishing...

Tapaisha beach on the Southwest coast is the closest thing Green Island has to a sandy beach. (The name in Chinese means "Big White Sand")
Coarse white sand covers the beach down tho the water line. After that it is rock coral heads, so this is really not a place for bathing...
Both diving and snorkeling here are said to be good though...

This is one of the best reasons to visit Green Island. For here they have one of the very few salt water hot spring in the world.
Here hot salt water comes bubbling out of the volcanic landscape on the south east shore of Green Island... (Locals have installed some pools for bathing here...)
Careful as some of these pools are scalding hot ahd could easily cook your goose... (both figuratively and literally...)

A cave on the north east side of the island, said to have a stalagmite in the image of Kuanin, the local godess of Mercy. People come and pay homage each morning by burning incense and to leave offerings of fruit and the like...
To me it looks like a Stalagmite (or is it Stalagtite ???) But, again I guess my imaginative power don't always cut the mustard...

The so-called Sleeping Beauty Rock Formation on the East coast of Green Island...
Said to resemble a lady sleeping... To me it resembles some big rocks along the coast... (Suppose I'm just not imaginative enough...)
