Shenxing Station by chewy3326 Sanyi, in Miaoli County, is not actually part of Taichung County. But it is a very interesting area, and is only about 20 minutes driving time from Taichung. Sanyi is known throughout Taiwan as the capital of wood-carving. Throughout Sanyi's streets you'll find hundreds of shops selling wood-carved statues of Buddha, Guanyin, Guanggong, and various animals. There's also a wood-carving museum. Not far from the city of Sanyi are two other attractions, both of which are generally aimed at locals; the Shenxing Station, which used to be the highest train station (above sea level) on the main Taiwan railway line, and Longteng Broken Bridge, a former railway bridge that is now broken and overgrown. Wu Fong is located in Taichung county, the nearest Taichung small town by Nan Tou. In 1999 midnight, an earthquake occured and measured 7.3 on the Richter Scale. This museum is not a dull or boring one. It keeps a few destroyed buildings and a play field for viewers. Basically it was an elementry school, but it turns out chippy buildings, and why the field was kept? Because it was uplifted to nearly 10 meters. It is clearly seen the displacement beween the uplifted and normal land. Also you may experience the strong shaking in the museum if you want. (No, thank you. I've experienced the real one and never forget it.) the fair is 30-50 dollars. It takes hours to visit. Leave a Comment

the good looking pond near the campsite by matt_of_asia, 4 more photos This is a long mountain trip, best done in a car, but if you want to sit on a scooter for 6 hours, hey, go for it! Fu-Shou Shan Veterans Farm has an OK camping area (for Taiwan) -running water, toilets, showers are available. it takes about 6 hours up some skinny scary mountain roads to get to. To go there get to HWY 14 and follow it up, up up past Ching-Jing Farm and HoHuanShan, when you reach a tiny village called DaYuLing (you probably wont see a sign, but its got a big service area and a tunnel, there is only one road to be on,) Go through the long skinny one lane tunnel and make sure nobody is coming towards you. Drive about 1 hour past the tunnel and keep your eyes open for the brown sign signalling FuShouShan Veterans Farm. Drive on up the scary little road and you will see many beautiful views of LiShan and the farm areas around. At the camping area itself you can wander around and see one natural beautiful pond, and two BS manmade ponds. ('Paradize' Pond.) still the drive and the camping is nice. Its reasonably quiet and difficult to get to even for taiwanese. If you cant find it the best thing to do is stay on the main road and get to WuLing Veterans Farm. Phone: unknownWebsite: unknown
