 | T'ai-nan Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 16 | | Tainan is famous for its Shrimp Rolls, and one of the best places to get it is at Zhou Shi Xia Juan. This old restaurant is located in the (relatively) older district of Anping. Definitely stop by for some good food, but be prepared for loooooooong lines.

This is defintely a restaurant that you need to take a date to. The menu, which was all in Chinese, listed a variety of food from all over the world. From the appetizers to desert, everything was delicious. The restaurant had a modern, romantic art deco feel, and had a beautiful sound system to set the mood. For the traveling people, finding a place where it all comes together - ambiance, appearance, service and above all taste - is like striking oil. When this happens in a location where the selection is relatively small (mostly because the local cuisine is far from being my cup of tea), this would be equal to striking oil on the same day of winning the lottery and the jackpot. The corner steak house is like striking oil. I'm still hoping to win the lottery, and very flexible about the jackpot - it doesn't all have to happen on the same day. The place is on a side alley in the vicinity of the University in Tainan. We tried to get there the night before, but we didn't have reservation. You probably don't need it during the weekdays, but on the weekend, it's highly recommended if you're coming for dinner. The food was excellent. We went for the 8oz Fillet Minion on the grill, and was almost in tears after the first bite. It was so good....It came with a side of mashed potetoes, and a couple of vegetables, but don't let that distract you from the delicious piece of meet right there in the middle. The service was excellent, as is most places in Asia, and the staff knows enough English to split the bill, which is all that we need. The selection was not big, but there's little to no chance i'll be eating anything else there, every week...
The Fillet Minion on the Grill. Go For it, it'll make your day. The meal comes with Salad, Soup and Desert, which were all very good and tasty. The bread was slightly flat, but blended well in the Beef Broth soup. Theme: SteakhousePrice: US$31-40 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: No 12. This is Tainan's 'local' food: The shrimp roll. First: prepare a shrimp, freshly twitching its little claws from a bucket. Then boil the f*** out of it. Rip his little legs and head and shell off. put his meaty tasty body into a flour shell, similar to a spring roll. add some veggies roll up the corpse. roll it in bread crumbs. Fry the F*** out of it. Deee licous! I'm not really one for eating Western food when I travel in the far east, but I heard of this very famous restaurant, serving specially prepared steaks, so I thought lets give it a try. This restaurant specializes in a steak dish called "Wang steak". You have no choice to how it's cooked because it is prepared and served in a traditional way. Each steak is marinated for 6 day's before it is cooked, and comes still on the bone. This isn't a cheap night out but both the ambiance and the food is good.
Check at the Menu in my Photo. I had the traditional Wang Steak and it was very tender and tasty, my girlfriend took the Lamb. Leave a Comment Theme: SteakhousePrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than average

When you walk around in the street you stumble over a local restaurant every minute. Though the language can be a problem, it's possible to point to what you like to eat. According to some, the best places are on Jiankang Road, west of Martyrs' shrine. And you can find McDonalds and Moss-burger too in downtown city, if you like that kind of food... OK, I do admit that the name of the snack sounds strange, but it's really a tasty food. It make by a toasted bread, inside of it there are stuffed with Corn-soup like soup. It is a typical Tainan snacks, which taste sweeter than other snacks in Taiwan.

Chows' Scwamp rolls are among the best snacker in Tainan. In comaprison with that in Taipei, theirs are MUCH NICER & CHEAPER. But for guests, they have to wait about 20 minutes in lines for order. Especially, during the weekend time. But their service is suck. Don't expect too much for their service.

Located in the lobby of the Light Inn, this Thai restaurant offers a pleasant, slightly sophisticated atmosphere and large portions of spicy, spicy Thai food. The dishes were a little more expensive than other Thai restaurants in town, but its definitely worth it.
