Favorite thing: You can see alot of surprises along the river. I thought buddhas' are only put up in the Wat areas but I saw one, beside the river. Maybe because there is also a Wat in the other side. You can see well furnished houses and the guide told us that they have wow houses in bricks because they were corrupt,haha..excuse to thai people..I don't mean a thing in here!
Fondest memory: The Wats are everywhere, you can see many of them even in the side of the river.

Favorite thing: The tour guide told us that most of the Thai people love to live beside the river. And most of the land are very expensive because of the demand that most people love to stay there. If the river will go high tide most of those people that can't afford to put a bricks or a cement to prevent the tide will have their things damage. That's the most and common things that happened in the families living near the river. It's best to cruise along the river when you're in the country to experience the life most Thai people have!
Fondest memory: Most of the thai people living the river will give you a wave, and shouting "Sawasdee"! Isn't it great?

Favorite thing: I was too tired and even sweating...Some of the group members laughed at me during the last part of the tour as I was too tired to even stand up and took photo's,heheh..One told me, I better sit down lined up with the buddha's..she told me joking though;-) The photo is around the area of Wat Phra Si Sanphet ruins.

Favorite thing: It can get quite hot in the afternoon sun!! You will probably want to put a small bottle of water in a day pack if you're gonna be walking around. We always had water in my day pack. I didn't pack to much though because a couple times that I packed to much it didn't get drank and it just got HOT. There are many small shops around selling bottled water and soft drinks.

THIS IS THE DAY 25th of January on which, collectively, the Thai Military Services honor a great Siamese fighting king of many years ago.
The monarch was King Naresuan and it was on 25 January 1592 that he fought a fierce and decisive battle against the invading Burmese armies.
Fondest memory:
King Naresuan the Great: (1590 - 1605)
was King Mahathammaracha's son.
At the age of nine, he had been taken as hostage to Burma for 6 years.
King Naresuan was a great warrior king.
He liberated Ayutthaya from Burma while he was the Crown Prince.
He led the soldiers into battles to defend the country against Burmese invasions many times.
He is also widely known among the Thais nowadays for his heroic efforts.
He led the assault of a Burmese camp by climbing the wooden stockade with the blunt side of a saber in his mouth.
He had a duel on elephants with the Burmese Crown Prince and slew him.
He took the offensive against Burma and also dealt with the Cambodians who made a series of raids.
King Naresuan extended Ayutthaya's territory to include Lanna, Lanchang, Cambodia and some parts of Burma.
He enforced strict discipline on his soldiers and the people.
During his reign, Ayutthaya was a very secure and powerful state.

Favorite thing: This Picture was taken 40 yrs ago from
Wat Na Phra Meru (Phra Mehn):
The former name of this monastery was
Wat Phra Meruachikaram.
Located on the bank of the Khlong Sa-Bua opposite to the Grand Palace.
The Ubosot design is of early Ayutthaya style. The most interesteing objects are the principal Buddha image, fully decorated in regal attire, and another ancient Buddha image (over 1000 yrs) made of stone in the small wiharn name Phra Kantharat next to the Ubosoth.
Fondest memory: The Ubosoth of Wat Na Phra Meru:
You will not find any windows of this building.
To recycling the air they use the air canal under the roof and nowaday this is rarely seen the Ayutthaya Era Ubosoth.

Q: right again, what motivate you to visit Ayutthaya? Push factors from inside you or pull factors from the destination?

A: Can't think of any push factors. I suppose if you've been to Angkor prior to Ayuthaya, you might be slightly underwhelmed.
