    You can see the years wearing on this wall. But it certainly has charm albeit a bit wavy!! I'm not sure if the wall was designed like this or if the years have modified it.

    The Entrance to Wat Ratburana is very Beautiful. It is one of my great memories from my first trip here in 1984. I still have the original photo which used as my opening pic for this Ayuthaya page.

    Even though it was just across the road from Wat Mahathat I bought my son an frozen popcicle to let him munch on. It was quite hot in the mid-day sun.

    There are sections of Wat Mahathat that haven't been been rebuilt. They have seen wars and earthquakes! They are fighting the elements to stay standing.

    The Wat Chai Wattanaram is still in good condition and can be visited safely.
    But the many buddha statues around are almost all decapitated.

    The area around this wat has ruins of 24 cathedral posts, 3 cathedrals, a stupa and a Buddhist temple hall, a pagoda and a bell tower.

    here the monks give out the blessing...lots of people come in and out of the very tight shrine for the blessings...i wanted to take pictures only - and people gave me weird looks!!!

    Here you see all the many Buddhas, sitting postion, surrounding the supposedly main prang, but all the buddhas statues were headless...all stolen and chopped off easy way by thieves..
