Favorite thing: It seems strange to rave about the pool as one of the best things about a beach town, but in this case, it definitely was! I must admit, Bang Saen Beach can be a bit dirty, especially early in the week. Also, there are no real beachfront hotels; you always have to cross the road so the pool is handy for a quick dip.
Only a few of the hotels in town have pools and it's worth checking. The pool at Tides Resort also has a pool bar, which is good enough for me!

Fondest memory: One image of Bang Saen I'll never forget is the sunset over the bay. You can have a couple of cocktails, look out over the water's edge, listen to a bit of music - magic stuff!
I took this picture at 'Relax Bar' over on the northern end of town.

Favorite thing: All along the bayside, there are jetties and viewing platforms extending out into the bay. You can take a walk to get a closer look at the ocean and some locals take their fishing gear out there to try their luck.
There are numerous shelters along the bay and they all seem to be made with a "temple" design. I thought it was a nice touch.

I have been to Bang Saen twice. On my first visit, I spent four days there in January, 2005. I quickly realised I was on to something. This is a little piece of paradise hidden away from the tourist...
