We took a night-time wildlife spotting tour in Jan. 2005 and had a "wild" time - plenty of deer, civet cats, porcupines and our first wild elephant. The tour is in an open truck so bring a coat (can get cold and wet) and doesn't venture far from the Park Headquarters but if you're lucky like we were you'll have a great time - the anticipation is half the fun.

There isn't any wild partying at Khao Yai. But the popular thing to do is hire a night spotter. You ride in the back of an open air pick up truck and there is a person with a big spotlight shining it around into the trees and fields trying to spot wild Animals. We got to see the eyes of some sort of Big eyed Monkey that I don't know the name of and we did see some deer and that's about it. There isn't really much to see and I don't think you'd see much anyways except for the eyes. Of course you can always hope for a leopard or Tiger!!!
It lasts for an hour and I don't remember the cost. It wasn't too overpriced and was sort of interesting. And of course the nighttime sounds are fantastic!!! Animals and insects in symphonic harmony!!
Dress Code: You might want a heavy shirt or light rain coat as the dew is very thick at this time of night. There were 2 times to choose from. 7-8 pm and 8-9 pm. We got soaked just from the dew!!
