Favorite thing: I guess our visit to Bangkok won't be so exciting if we didn’t visit Chatuchak…even the friendly taxi driver in S'pore remind us to do so. You can find almost everything here! We will always go to Chatuchak when we visit Bangkok because here we found our favorite cakes made from coconut. When we asked what's the name of this superbly delicious cakes…they said ‘Makunai’. Please correct me if I’m wrong! Don’t forget to try it the next time you’re in Bangkok if you haven't done so. Eat it while it's hot or it won't be so delicious.

    Fondest memory: So many thing!

    Map of Chatuchak Market

Favorite thing: This is a map of the whole Chathchak Market.
I was standing near the bank and the restaurant area.

The lanes all look the same and you could easily be lost.

If you are buying bulky items and would not wish to lug it around, just deposit with the shop keeper and ask for a name card or map back to the shop.

i did that and no need to carry around the 3.8kg triangle pillow around in hot and small lanes at Chatuchak.

Favorite thing: In the middle of the weekend market there is a place to eat and it is very good. It cost under US$5 for 4 people. It was just past the live roosters.

Fondest memory: Make sure to bring your own toilet paper or go to the bathroom before you get to the weekend market, the bathrooms are a hole in the floor and some of the scariest around

    Shopping

Favorite thing: Here's a note to highlight. Thai shop owners value their first customer. If u happen to be their first customer, and u have gone thru the bargain process, u better honour ur last price that u have bargain, otherwise they will bad mouthed u and if u walk away without buying, they will close their shop and re-open again. This is because, the first customer is very impt to them. And if u successfully buy the item from the shop as a first customer, they will be very happy to serve u and will use ur money notes to beat the items on sale in their shop while chanting "heng heng, heng heng", means good luck, good luck. Usually they will compromise the bargain of the first customer, provided it is a reasonable price.

Fondest memory: i miss the flea markets and the food there!

To get there use the new BTS sky train: take Sukhumwit Line, stop at Mor Chit Station, (the last one) and ask as you go out the station . A typicall oriental market, having from handicraft to all kinds of animas, food, clothes or plants...

Favorite thing: Go to the weekend market, if you are in Bangkok on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. What ever you do, do not miss this place, the skytrain will take you right there. There are over 10,000 yes 10,000 different stores here. These squirels are pets.
