    English Language Media!

by machomikemd Updated Oct 10, 2012

    1 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: English TV channels are available in all major hotels and apartments but is rare at the cable channels at the lower priced hostels and bed and breakfast areas, the cable company, UBC is the provider of packages that include channels like CNN, BBC World, HBO, Star Movies and sport channels like ESPN. Some radio stations are in English but they are more rare, 107 FM is a station that offers English music and news. There's only one international hit music station, 102.5FM.

Fondest memory: watching hangover 2 in english with thai translations at HBO in my hotel

    English Newspaper in Thailand

by travelpug Written Dec 6, 2008

Favorite thing: Thailand has two main English daily newspaper:
    1. The Nation - 25 baht
    2. Bangkok Post - 30baht

Both covers news in Thailand as well as international news. The Nations come with free Daily Xpress with info about events and happenings in Thailand (mainly Bangkok though).

You can get them from major english bookstores. Alternatively, you can browse their websites:

    Daily Xpress - Free Newspaper

by travelpug Updated Dec 2, 2008

Favorite thing: Daily Xpress is a daily English language newspaper free to be picked up in most McDonald's in Bangkok. You can also get a free copy when you buy The Nation. It is very informative in terms of the happenings in town, movie reviews, travel essays, etc. However, don't expect it to have full coverage of news as it is just for a quick read. Go get your own copy today!

or you can visit their website:

    English Language Newspapers!

by machomikemd Written Oct 12, 2007

Favorite thing: There are three English newspapers in Thailand, the most popular is the Bangkok Post. The other two are The Nation and The Business Day. These newspapers offer quality information on general news but news that makes headlines in the Thai newspapers is often omitted (crimes by Thai nationals against Thai nationals)

Almost all English magazines and books are available in the better bookshops like "Asia Books" with several branches throughout Bangkok, note that prices are high since the magazines are imported.
