Download Maps and Use GPS via Smartphones

Favorite thing: in this modern age of smartphones with built in GPS Locators and Tablets, you hardly need to get the free printed maps of the attractions and sight of bangkok, all you have to do is download the free google maps is you are using an android powered smartphone or the Iphone Maps, if using the Apple Platform and then you can use them as your guide, you gps locator will even work even when you're offline, provided that you have previously dowloaded you maps beforehand so you you could know your current location vis a vis with the attraction you will be visiting.

Fondest memory: download the maps of bangkok before hand, so you need not pay for internet service in your hotel or via internet roaming, which is very expensive!

    Looking for that place

Favorite thing: There are plenty of maps
    of Bangkok out there.

But one of the most comprehensive
    and detailed ones is
the one by Nancy Chandler which,
can be bough at every other book store.

The map comes along with a small index guide book.

The price at the time I purchased it 180 Bahts.

You can also visit their web-site at:

    Buy yourself a good map

Favorite thing: There are no scaled maps available for Bangkok - military secret, you see. i found the best maps to be Nancy Chandler maps. Lots of information on the map giving you an idea of relative distances so that you can plan what you want to see in one day and what should be left for another day.

Fondest memory: None of the maps contain much beyond the core area of the city - the airport will not be on any of them, for example, but if you are where most other tourists are, they will do fine. Getting outside of that area gets a bit more adventerous and, depending on your point of view, either less or more interesting.

Favorite thing: If you are arriving at the Bangkok International Airport (Don Muang - BKK) don't forget to pick the "Official map of bangkok" ....which is free.

Fondest memory: Best Map in town!
