One lesson learned: Thai people obviouly love using superlatives when it comes to their capital city. One interesting detail is that everyone is rumoured to know the entire name of the city by heart.

An interesting fact that not many travelers know is that Bangkok is not called Bangkok in Thai. It's official name is Krungthep Maharnakorn...... it goes on and on and on, there is actually a song that the Thai people sing to remember the full name of the city!
