Brick Bar, Bangkok
Go inside of Buddy Lodge down the back you will find the Brick Bar.This bar is very popular with the young Thai crowd with live Thai/Eng ska, reggae, funk music . Also check out the decor someone has a good collection of stuff and there are some good little corners to watch sport and pool tables .
Brick Bar -- my all-time favorite place to hang out!!
If you're into funk or ska music, I'd really really like to recommend this one......
There's a band called Teddy Ska (Mon-Sat 11 p.m.) -- which I think -- one of the coolest ska bands in Thailand. The place starts to fill up around late 9 or 10, and by that time the tables are fully occupied, sometimes even no place to stand!! No reservations can be made thru a call, it's on fisrt come-first serve basis.
Check out their website :
(E-mail me if you wanna be there, I hang out here almost every weekend!!!)
Dress Code: Casual -- but no shorts and slippers
Bring your ID + 150 Baht Entrance Fees (they'll give you a drink coupon)
Place to go for Live Ska music. More "local" and "farang" place. Lot of Thai students hang out there on Friday, Saturday nights. I like this place because it has unique atmosphere. People go there for dancing. And I mean.. really dance as if nobody sees them. They don't care if they will look silly or not.(most of them do! they dance like crazy! and it's cool! very entertaining!) Everyone just cares about having fun. I think it's the best part of Brick Bar. No posers. Nice!
Entry fee about 150 Baht on Fridays, Saturdays. Get one drink free.
Dress Code: Hip! anything would do. But better not to go in flip-flops.
At Brick Bar you can get cocktails, beers, but also cola.
Here there usually is live music every evenening. Sometimes there is just one band and sometimes there are more on one evening. It's cool to here Thai doing english songs. Some are very good and some are abolutely not ;o)
You will be sure to meet many cheerful Thai, but also some other tourists.
A nice bar for a fun evening, but don't come earlier than 21:30 h, cause otherwise there are almost no people here.
Dress Code: Wear anything you like, it doesn't really matter.
